  1. I think when they get rid of a manager it has nothing whatsoever to do with results. If you criticise them in any way, you're on borrowed time,I think that's the more likely situation. What you have to hope for is that he gets frustrated and starts publicly criticising them. I thought right from the outside that this first team coach, director of football set-up was a mistake. If results go badly, tomasson can blame it on the quality of recruitment, and Broughton can blame it on the coaching. It's all about getting your excuses in and building up your pension pot. On this current trajectory, Burnley are going to whip us. That may be enough to make him walk unless he had a thick hide, because he'll have lost the fans then
  2. NFG I know. No flipping good BFI I know. British film institute BFG. BIG FRIENDLY GIANT. NFI. National farmers institute?
  3. Father Mccree, you have it in one. "Security? The word's become a bloody joke!"
  4. Pall Mall Gazette noted that their followers were "a northern horde of uncouth garb and strange oaths".
  5. A white shirt with a blue Maltese cross on it? (rofl) The centenary shirt? Perhaps not.
  6. Was talking to an Irish mate about Kevin. We agreed he was as hard as nails. He played a major role in getting Rovers out of what was the old second division. I think we all remember the goal against Derby in the play-off semi. For sheer bravery, it's difficult to match. I think he was one of those players that had great assurance in his play, you never worried about the man. Two points: - am I right in thinking that we signed him on a free transfer? If so, have we ever made a better free signing? And two, have we ever had a harder player? John McNamee perhaps?
  7. Who's being a misery? Sunday was a depressing experience, even if I wasn't able to see the game. I can't understand what the manager's up to, but what do I know? It's not like I have any influence on it whatsoever. Not beating Burnley since 2010 though, that stings. Question for Jon -- if I give you the money, can you make Venky's sell up? Ta.
  8. Losing 1-0 at home to Leicester in our promotion season was painful to watch. I can still see Russell's goal in my mind's eye, Bloody agony. For some reason what really stands out is the image of some young lad stood on top of the railing at the top of the stairs to see the game. I remember thinking if I tried that I'd break my neck. Funny the things you remember.
  9. I remember being at a game at spurs, can't remember which year this was. Souness on the touchline, immaculately dressed. For some reason the expensive brown shoes stick in the mind. The decisions weren't going our way. Christ, did he ever go mad. He was seething. The crowd responded with due appreciation. SOOOOOOOOOU-NESSSSSSSSSS! Most of our managers party venkys looked like they got dressed in the dark. Bowyer wore a suit, but he really did look like he'd been down burtons in a sale. Souness though, wow. You could tell he'd lived in Italy, put it that way
  10. Amazing days. Before things went a bit south, I always felt that we were in safe hands with him, particularly that he was someone who really understood the club. There was no fear of him taking the derby lightly. Here's how the BBC reported it at the time: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/football/677027.stm "Graeme Souness is precisely the man we need and he can count on our full and unswerving support," Walker said. "There is a big job to be done here and I believe we have found the right man to do it." And also here is a quote that I remember him making at the time: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2002/feb/24/sport.comment1 "'But this is a proper football club because of Jack Walker, it is not a club that relies on its share price, it is not a club that sold one end to a supermarket.'" Now compare and contrast to the absolute sh*tshow we have had for 12 years or more. Owners who won't even come to the games any more, they certainly don't bother issuing statements. Managers who couldn't care less about the club, and can't even be arsed to hide it (I'm looking at you, Mowbray). I miss those days in so many ways. But most of all, I miss us having an owner who cared, and knew what he was doing.
  11. Wasn't Gary Blissett once in trouble with the law? I remember him having a 'tache, the two things are possibly connected.
  12. Half-decent Beamo in there. Imagine how hard you hard to spank that thing to get it over the bar. Loved the kit too, proper jerseys with collars.
  13. Who was that feels the crowd used to chant Jim, Jim bang one on. Ended up living in Vegas. Never scored with his feet. Used to be called pancho on account of the sideboards. Jim arnott? Jim fryatt
  14. Was it two two the away game in our promotion season? I went to that one. From memory it was after we'd had six straight defeats, wegerle put us two one up and then we got pegged back. I was absolutely gutted and convinced at that point that we wouldn't go up
  15. Sorry to sit on the fence, wouldn't want to bore everyone with a hagiography. 🤔 But he really was a grade a twat. I refuse to hear a bad word about him. The utter cock
  16. I'll be honest, I really didn't like the fella one little bit. I thought he was a world class bullshitter. However he's departed the scene, and gone on to other things. For the sake of my health, I'll wish him nothing but the best. The big-nosed boot licking bitchy ham fisted sulking excuse merchant time serving toady WANKER. All the best mate. I'll get the statue sent on to Sunderland
  17. Oh yeah, forgot about him. Nine in under twelve years. Then you've got people like Agnew, Shaw, waggott etc. It really grieves me that these people were even let in the building
  18. Can anyone remember exactly how many managers these pricks have hired? Kean Berg Black Appleton Bowyer Coyle Mowbray Tomasson Have I missed any out?
  19. Think the official term is market capitalisation? Twelve years, eight managers is it? £200 million debt or whatever it is. A crumbling ground covered in shit. An endless parade of wrong uns. A proud tradition trampled in the dirt. They can barely make things worse if they changed the kit to claret and blue. So diluting the value of the club, at this stage it doesn't even touch the sides of the great big barrel of contempt I have for them They can honestly go and f+++ themselves, I'll never accept them. Any time they want to clear off is fine by me
