  1. That’s my thinking as well. We’d got a point that looked very unlikely 20 minutes earlier. Chuck it in the mixer and you risk another Preston away style goal.
  2. The impressions - I’m The One That Loves You
  3. I was expecting us to sign someone with physical presence when we signed Tronstad. I know it’s early days yet and David Batty wasn’t very tall but I was surprised when I saw that we’d signed another pretty short player.
  4. Erma Franklin - Piece Of My Heart
  5. Just reading that Armstrong scored 2 pens today, one “ after an in-explicable Shane Duffy handball “. Is he at it again ?
  6. How did Leonard go on ? Nobodies mentioned him this week.
  7. Sami - is he the new David Speedie ?
  8. I’m almost sure he missed one as well but I can’t remember what game it was.
  9. He’d be even better today than he was then. This modern game is made for him.
  10. He misses too many chances for me and we don’t create enough chances for a 1 in 4 striker.
  11. Joe Tex - Hold On ( To What You’ve Got ).
  12. According to my No 2 son the full game is on YouTube.
  13. Either that or get a seat that faces the pitch.
  14. I thought they might have caught City on the hop tonight. They’re not the best starters of the season but once they get into their stride they take some stopping. The first game at home is your best chance.
  15. Tawny Reed - I Got A Feeling
  16. You’ve got to fight for the right to play your football. It’s always been that way.
  17. The Dingles didn’t fancy having to go toe to toe with a fully fired up Luton so soon in the season. Better to play them later on in the season when the shine has been knocked off them.
  18. Jimmy Radcliffe - Long After Tonight Is All Over
  19. Robbie Robertson, never heard of him ? ! “ I don’t believe you “.
  20. The Soul Brothers Six - Some Kinda Wonderful
  21. Then we got Alan Hunter. Now he was a real player.
  22. I beg to differ Parson, the pitch wasn’t that bad. We got a penalty at the Darwen End if my memory serves me well. Coddington, who to my knowledge had never taken a penalty for us before put the ball on the spot and set off walking back to begin his run up to the ball. He must have gone about 20 yards at least. I’ve never seen any other player go back half as far ! He ran up like Jimmy Anderson and then gently side footed the ball straight into the keepers arms. The keeper never moved. Unbelievably the ref said “ take it again “. Why, I don’t know. So back goes Coddington to his original mark. Runs in like Jimmy Anderson again, and gently side foots the ball straight at the keeper again ! If I hadn’t have seen it with my own eyes I wouldn’t have believed it. Later on in the second half the ref gave us another pen. This one was dispatched easily by either Mike Ferguson or Eamon Rogers, I can’t remember which one. We eventually won 2-1. John was an old fashioned centre half brought in to bring some height to the back four after we’d been playing Ronnie Clayton and George Sharples in there, neither of those were really centre halves. He was a no nonsense guy whose strengths were in defending. How he’d have gone on “ playing it out from the back “ I shudder to think. Thanks for the memories John, especially that never to be forgotten penalty.
