  1. I usually walked from the Boulevard unless it was pissing down or I was late. I remember waiting by that bus stop near Bill Eckersley’s old shop at the ground to get autographs. Fred Pickering, Keith Newton and Mike England jumped off once. Imagine that now, First Division footballers going to the game on public transport !
  2. I don’t think anybody on or off the pitch knew for sure that all the ball was over all the line. Having said that Roger Hunt, who was very near to the ball, seemed pretty certain.

  5. It’d be nice to have a Kuqi or a Dickov up front these days.
  6. It’s difficult at this time of year. Too many other things to do for lots of people.

  9. I’ve seen more bad performances than good under these circumstances so I’m not getting my hopes up. The West Ham game back in the 1960’s was the first for me but by no means the last.
  10. Then it’s over to the players to put in a performance.
  11. Them - Here Comes The Night
  12. Yeah it’s great waiting to board the plane when the person further down the queue can’t find the boarding passes for his family on his phone.
  13. I see the European Court of Justice has ruled that the UEFA and FIFA ban on clubs joining a “ Super League “ has been ruled “ unlawful “. I’m not really surprised. Watch this space.
  14. Percy Sledge - Warm And Tender Love
  15. We’ve just watched “ Belfast “. Very good.
  16. Villareal beating Celta Vigo 3-2 in time added on. BBD on the bench but didn’t get on.
  17. My favourite phone was an old clam shell style Nokia. Great little phone. You could even take photos with it !

  21. I think there is more “ flapping at corners “ because there are more players involved in them. Back in my stone age playing days the centre half/halves stayed on the centre line marking the opposing centre forward at a corner. Both full backs more or less did the same marking their wingers. Those three attacking players stayed well down field. So that’s six players taken out of the goal mouth area. The goalkeeper had more room to move in the goal mouth then. Less players to jostle a keeper trying to catch the ball. The first centre half I saw regularly go up for corners was Mike England in the early to mid 1960’s. As he was 6’ 3” with a tremendous leap he was devasting. I’ve seen him head the ball down into the top corner of the net.
  22. Johnny Darrell - Green, Green Grass Of Home
  23. 23 is just a teenager in centre half years.
  24. Max Frost And The Troopers - The Shape Of Things To Come From the “ Nuggets “ CD. Anybody interested in the origins of Punk this is an essential collection.
