Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?

I was over on the other side but it looked a poor goal from where I was. Not just the keeper, left centre half and left back must have still been in the changing rooms. -

I agree with you regarding Wharton, he could make a massive difference to our ability to play a more passing based game. He’s always ready to relcieve the ball and he knows we’re it’s going next before he gets it. -

Yeah, the Hull at home game springs to mind. We played that like it was a pre-season friendly.. -

They had a vote in Manchester Council in the early 1970’s wether they should demolish Manchester Town Hall and replace it with a multi storey car park. The Town Hall only survived by one vote ! You’re right about the Cavern, the air vent was to be for a branch of the underground that never got built. So they demolished it for nothing. -

The Aussies must hate playing at Headingly. So next time they don’t have to.

But we don’t play with quick tempo enough of the time, that’s the problem. When we do we look ok as when we scored our two goals yesterday. Most of the time we’re taking the ball stood still because the passing isn’t good enough. -

Maybe they had a spare seat or two on the plane now that Wharton and Ennis have pulled out. -
We’re really obvious in our play. So predictable and easy to play against. As you say we don’t move the ball quickly enough. We are content to play in front of teams all the time and rarely get up the sides of our opponents. When we do it’s taken us so long that our opponents are all back in position. Our set pieces are a bad joke. When did we last score from a direct free kick ? Until these things changes - we’re just treading water.

Once he allowed the striker to roll him out wide he was struggling. As you say he should have just put the ball out in the first place. He’s making a habit of getting too close to the guy he’s supposed to marking. You need to be close enough so the player can’t turn with the ball but not that close that he can roll you. -

Two good passes and it’s good to see someone carrying the ball forward from the back instead of just passing it square. He was at fault for both the Accy goals though. Especially the second one, he got turned by the centre forward out wide, ran in his wake into the penalty area, then attempted a tackle from behind that was never on. -

You must have been sat near me then. I was on row D right in line with the six yard box we defended in game 1 first half. The guy who got the free shirt from the club for being first in the queue was sat right behind me. -

Exactly, it’s awful to watch. Lots of scary passing around in the danger areas before somebody sends a ball forward to another player further up the pitch. This player is inevitably running back towards his own goal to receive the ball. He either gets tackled or hoofs a blind pass around the corner to no one in particular. Too much walking football. Unless you’re Bryan Douglas it’s really difficult to beat an opponent once you’re stood still. For their first goal they banged an ale house ball out of defence onto our left flank,, Wharton had gone somewhere to buy a pie or a cup of coffee, and they score with ease. One pass and we open up like the Red Sea. -

Yes, that was a great bit of play. It was a decent save from their trialist keeper but really the chance should have been buried. -

It wasn’t great Gav. Not exactly like having teeth pulled but part way through the first game I caught myself thinking - “ If football had have been like this when I was a kid I might have concentrated on playing cricket ! “ This was after several bouts of centre half to centre half to goalie triangular keep ball ! -

Dolan helped make one and scored the other. It wasn’t an easy chance either. -

I was discussing it with my son on the way back. We’ve seen some real dogshit pre-season games in the past, especially when we’ve played at Rochdale, and this was just the same. -
Good save but a very poor penalty.

Sigurdsson had better be good. We were crying out for some creativity in centre midfield. Somebody who can make things happen instead of just moving the ball ( and responsibility ) on. Wharton the younger was badly missed. -

Just got back. One awful game and one poor game. Maybe I expect too much but a lot of the passing was dreadful. It looked like two bottom division teams scrapping it out, not one bottom Div team and one Championship team. We only turned it on for the last 15 minutes of the second game when we got around their right hand side twice to score two good goals. Before that we’d just played in front of our opponents as usual. No goal threat at all. Pluses- Phillips , without a doubt he looks like he’ll be pushing for a place this season. Minuses - Gally , he’s gone backwards. Somebody threaded a nice pass through to him and he got it caught between the divers boots he must have been wearing. Batty, I expected more, he’s not ready. Vale, not a left winger, did his best but kept having to come inside all the time. Wharton, badly at fault for both of their goals, went missing for the first and then got turned again for the pen. He must be behind Phillips now. Him and Carter looked a bit shaky. JRC, Hyam, Sammy, Hedges, Dolan, Brittain, Pickering all did ok. None of the kids are knocking on the door apart from Phillips. Leonard never got a touch. Buckley strolled through the game when it needed more effort. The new Norwegian guy looked ok but nothing special to me. Early days though, he only played 45 minutes. -
They think they have to score off every ball ! Onedayitis.
