  1. If they really want him, he’ll be gone. I for one wouldn’t blame him.
  2. In other news Gally limped off at Stoke after half time.
  3. That’s another good.point. Not just any old fixtures, but three really taxing games. Millwall at the Den isn’t a walk in the park either. Some guys have all the luck.
  4. It’s not like they’re missing chances though is it ? If you want players that make their own chances you need to be spending real money.
  5. They also got to play us at exactly the right time. At the end of a run of tightly packed fixtures that will always benefit the teams with the bigger squads. The Millwall game were we lost both of Travis and Pickering to medium/ long term injuries topped off by losing Ohashi to a bad tackle at Leeds gave us a real mountain to climb. It’s not just that they are missing but then the “ bench “ players become starters and you get kids on the bench. Given a full squad to pick from I’d have been really fancying our chances today. Instead we were left hoping for the best.
  6. I said before the game I would have started with the usual back 7 with JRC, Buckley, Hedges in the 3 and Dolan up front. Anybody not 100% fit I wouldn’t have started. In Eustace we trust but I agree with you regarding the forward players.
  7. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt today. He’d been ill apparently, maybe he put his hand up to play because he knew he was needed. Today has gone though and I’ll be expecting a lot more in future. The attacking part of the game needs to go through whoever’s playing in that role, not pass them by. He needs to be more demanding and get on the ball more.
  8. I’d have had JRC playing before ACD.
  9. Whoever plays right up front at the moment are on a hiding to nothing. How many chance do we make for the strikers ? 1 or 2 a game at the most. If you want strikers that make their own goals, they cost serious money not magic beans.
  10. It’s that sort of decision making that does my head in. Along with the over ambitious pass down field when the obvious pass is shorter and out wide. Plus the passes that go behind players so they have stop and lose all forward momentum. I can’t believe Eustace doesn’t sit them down on a Monday morning and play the games back incident by incident. “ Right, you lost the ball/gave the ball away there, where should you have passed it to ? “
  11. I was expecting the new Berkovic or Bohinen, Somebody to play the killer pass or make that killer little 20 or 30 yard run to open up our opponents defence. Somebody who demands the ball off the defence instead of somebody quietly hanging around waiting for the ball. It hasn’t happened yet.
  12. Eustace has improved lots of things around the team but the passing is still poor. We give the ball away way too often. You can’t do that in modern football. It’s the un forced errors that kill you.
  13. They’ll be watching the cricket.
  14. The only thing I canthink is that Hedges played the whole of the Leeds game so maybe his game time needs managing.
  15. Cornet is another one of those “ fast of the mark “ players that are destined to spend plenty of time on the treatment table. See Harry Chapman. They have pace but they don’t know how to use it wisely.
  16. Very attacking given the circumstances. I’d have had Hedges for ACD to start with. ACD isn’t much help at tracking back.
  17. Let’s hope he’s learnt from that incident. Their guy would have been on a card and walking the tightrope if Gueye would have just picked himself up and walked away.
  18. Not for me. Leonard is nowhere near ready for a game of this magnitude. If we were playing anybody else I’d say “ Yes, let’s see what the lad can do “. This game is just too big.
  19. I hope Eustace has taken Gueye to one side this morning. We don’t need any more red cards.
  20. Cue the chicken chokers turning on their TV’s at 3-00 !
  21. Simone is too smart to go there.
  22. Playing the “ Tronstad “ role demands more than just physical ability it demands a great deal of football intelligence. You need to support attacking play as much as you can but you must never be caught on the wrong side of the ball. Avoid the temptation to run the ball out, always pass the ball. You have to be really disciplined, not everybody can play that role, you need a cool head. That way if the pass goes astray you are still in a position to halt attacking play by the opposition. It was significant that in the second half of the Leeds game Tronstad had a rush of blood to the head, got caught too far up the pitch, we lost possession , and Leeds nearly scored.
  23. The Electric Prunes - Get Me To The World On Time
  24. They’ll have to play exactly like we did in most of their away games if they get into the Prem. If they don’t they’ll be straight back down again.
  25. I think Eustace can make a poor mans Travis out of him.
