  1. Just a motivator as far as I can see. I’m not sure that works with modern players.
  2. Yes, in Rochdale as well. I played for a pretty good team as a lad and when we played teams near the bottom of the league the rule was - if you scored a hat trick you had to play the rest of the game in defence. Everybody went along with that apart from one guy - he wouldn’t. He got 8 goals in one game. He was a baby liner.
  3. Very good player in his day. As was Mark Hughes, but so was Paul Ince. Unknown quantity as a manager. No word on Dyche, I can’t see him coming to Rovers.
  4. BBC are saying the dingles are hoping to sign up Vincent Kompany as their next manager. Great player in his day but a bit of an unknown as a manager. A bit of a gamble really. He’ll either be a success or a failure, there won’t be a middle ground.
  5. Van Nistlehorseface was the best for that. I never saw him score a goal from outside the 6 yard box.
  6. That’s my thoughts also. There seems to be nobody in authority that is bothered in the slightest. Then I just heard on the radio that another Yank has taken over at Chelsea.
  7. I’m a history buff but at the moment I’m trying to get through the books I got bought for my birthday. Eddie Jones ( England RU Coach ) biography, Dave Groehl ( Foo Fighters ) biography, and The History of Rochdale Hornets. The first two aren’t really my cup of tea.
  8. It’s still the hardest situation to defend against. The guy coming in on the back post has the drop on the defender. He can see the ball and the defender. All the defender can see is the ball.
  9. Just goes to show that even well run teams are only one or two bad decisions away from a disaster. In our case two I suppose. Selling out to the Chicken Chokers and firing Big Sam. In Burnley’s case selling out to the Yanks and maybe firing Dyche in the manner they did. IE with no real replacement. At least their guy did better than Kean. Putting the rivalry to one side what happened at Burnley is a disgrace from a financial point of view. I know they thought it was hilarious when the Chokers trashed one of the most well run clubs in the Prem. It’s their turn now. Maybe they’ll be more sympathetic in future ? Neither club should have been put in this predicament.
  10. What was good enough previously for the Premier League isn’t good enough now. The Prem moved on and Dyche didn’t. That doesn’t make him a bad manager, he’d be welcome at Ewood as far as I’m concerned.
  11. Maybe Dyche being “ a very good championship manager “ wasn’t quite enough for a team in the Premier League.
  12. I’ll get in first. Yes, I had four halves in the pub yesterday.
  13. I know I was one of them. Playing football was my outlet.
  14. Even the dogs in the street have heard about him unfortunately.
  15. It’s so they can say they interviewed Farke but Grayson was by far the outstanding candidate.
  16. I think “ did “ is the operative word. The last time they splashed out was years ago now.
  17. He’s lived up here before when he was at City. He was playing in that 7-0 thrashing we gave Forest years ago. My youngest son and myself were waiting out side the main entrance after the game so he could get autographs. It was peeing with rain and nearly all the Forest players just brushed past the kids. Stuart Pearce signed autographs for everybody in the rain. The other players were banging on the coach window for him to get on but he ignored them. Top bloke.
  18. We don’t fulfil any of those criteria. Apart from that keep speculating.
