  1. Exactly, it’s as simple as that.
  2. “ Left Back “ ? You mean the new Mahrez ?
  3. Forest will go up this time.
  4. Get down to the bookies and put a wedge on, you’ll get Brererton-Diaz style odds for that prediction. I remember us putting 9 past Scotland. Dougie got at least one of them.
  5. Yeah Bruck was hacking at Fergie right from the kick off. They’d obviously figured out he was our danger man. In the end he lost it and as Bruck was hacking the back of his legs he swung his arm back at Bruck. It would be a sending off all day long today but not so much in those days. We huffed and puffed without creating much without Fergie. We’d no size in the forward line. They had one chance and scored from it. My abiding memory is of Ronnie Clayton and Gould chasing a long bouncing ball towards the Blackburn End, Ronnie had a head start and was winning the race and had got in front of Gould so Gould just booted him up the arse ! That would also be a sending off all day long today, ask Andy Todd. In those days Gould got a booking.
  6. Is old Rosie thrown in in that deal ?
  7. Ronnie, Harry Leyland, Mick McGrath, Matt Woods, Roy Isherwood ?, Bryan Douglas. That’s not like Ronnie. My image of him is sprinting out of the tunnel with the tan ball tucked underneath his arm and then booting the ball high into the air.
  8. Van Hecke at Fulham being the classic example.
  9. I’ve seen some crap England test teams over the years but this must be the worst ever.
  10. I asked for a pint of “ Morretti “ the other night in my local. I usually pay by card at the end of the night. This time I just absentmindedly put a £5 note down on the bar. The barman said “ You’ll need to put another 20p there “. £5-20 for a pint of lager !
  11. I have to smile at that photo of Tommy pursuing the ball in spite of the trailing leg from the defender. Obviously the lad would have been limping around with a twisted ankle after that. Today you would be getting “ there was contact “ and the commentators would be wondering aloud why Tommy didn’t go down !
  12. I just put Brazil v Chile into Google. Tells you all you need to know. 4-0 to Brazil incidentally and Ben didn’t make the match day squad.
  13. You mean it’s nonsense. We provide seats so everybody can stand up ? Where’s the logic there.
  14. If therefore everybody in that section is going to stand up why bother with the seating !
  15. Pointless exercise. What do you do if the guy in front of you wants to stand up and you don’t ? Apart from planting him that is.
  16. The Blackburn End when we played City in the cup years ago definitely wasn’t safe. My first wife refused to go again after that match.
  17. I’m back to looking forward to the international breaks again so the buggers can’t spoil another weekend. What sort of progress is that ?
  18. I’m part way through the Michael Hodkinson book also. I agree with you, it is brilliant. An exceptional book. I’ve got quite a library of Rovers books. I’ve got all the Harry Berry books plus the Peter White book you mentioned. Several by Mike Jackman One you don’t see much is Fred O’Donague’s account of his time scouting in the North West including his time at Rovers, “ Scouting For Glory “. I’ve got a couple by Dean Hayes - “ East Lancashire Derbies” and “ Blackburn Rovers an A to Z “. One called “ Get A Grip “ by a fan called Tim Barlow. Basically about his time following Rovers. ” Football history told through newspaper headlines - Blackburn Rovers “, interesting but over priced. Two good ones - “ Blackburn Rovers - an illustrated history “ and “ Blackburn Rovers - the official encyclopaedia “ Plus a few players autobiographies - LeSaux, Big Sam, Jansen etc. Years ago I also had a 45 rpm EP ( remember them ? ) of the commentary from the Rovers v Wolves FA Cup Final. The least said about that the better ! Edit - I’ve just spotted another book called “ They Think It’s All Rovers “.
  19. I see Steve Agnew was playing for Barnsley allegedly.
  20. When you run the ball out of defence now and look around for a forward to pass to you find they’re all stood next to you.
  21. How many of those appointments were the fans happy with at the time ? How many were on the radar before they were sprung on us. I’ll hold my hand up for Lambert ( partially because he was also bringing in good assistants ) , but I didn’t want any of the others.
  22. When you look at the forward play in that game and compare it with the current team’s forward play it’s like they’re playing another game with different rules. That third goal was a great move with some superb first time passing.
  23. I wouldn’t say loads of clangers, a few maybe. As bad as Kaminski’s at Fulham ? My mum could have held on to that one.
