The more I think about this I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t really matter who we get. When the whole club is set up for failure, and more to the point used to failure, no one man is ever going to pull it around. January being a classic example. We’re in the best position we’ve been in since the chicken chokers rocked up and what do we do - sign five bits and pieces players who haven’t done a tap between them. Souey signed one class act, Berkovic, who propelled us to promotion. I rest my case. Sorry, Giles has one assist.

The only ex player that has done anything as a manager here was Mark Hughes. That’s unless you count Tony Parkes. I don’t care if they come from the dark side of the moon as long as they know what they’re doing.

Some of our recent performances have been right down there. Yesterday for a start. I couldn’t stand Coyle from day one but let’s have it right - they gave him a handful of magic beans to spend in the transfer market. He didn’t get to spend £7mill and then £5mill on two strikers.

Every day that goes by it’s getting less of a step up. Plus the massive “ added degree of difficulty “ that is working for the chicken chokers.

The players have probably heard it all before to the extent that they are no longer listening to anything he says. They appear to be just going through the motions and waiting for him to leave.

My money would be on Forest out of those teams. Look what a difference a manager who knows what he’s doing can make.

It comes down to this for me - he’s had 5 years to get us putting in more than a half of decent play in games and he hasn’t even achieved that. Some games we don’t even get a half ! Another bone of contention for me is recruitment. We were in a great position in January and he brought 5 players in. Not one of those players has contributed one single thing towards the promotion push. Not one single thing ! When you sign 5 players that takes some doing !

Players come in two types - the ones that get you on top in a game, and the ones that do their stuff when the first group have got you into the game. Rothwell belongs in the second group. What’s he done since Xmas ? How many goals ? How many assists. If he’s not doing those things what’s he in the team for ? Putting in a couple of runs that don’t lead to anything won’t do it for me. Unfortunately we’re really short of players that belong in the first group. That’s why on current form we’re are more bottom six than top six material.

Rothwell’s lucky to get in that team. He’s a luxury player.

Dunn’s been a failure everywhere he’s been.

His job is to put the desire there. He’s supposed to be motivating the players. Some players don’t need motivating but he hasn’t signed any of those. Listening to him being interviewed the players probably have a hard time staying awake.

For me re-appointing Mowbray would the equivalent of appointing Coyle. We know what he’s capable of and it’s not good enough. It never has been for me. I bailed out temporarily when we appointed Coyle. I didn’t watch us, I didn’t take any interest in the club or football apart from looking at the scores at 4-55 on a Saturday. I didn’t come on this site. Being really honest I felt a lot better for it. My weekends weren’t ruined any more.

I caught Mowbray’s interview on Radio Lancs. Sounded like a man just about to be taken out to face a firing squad. He is without doubt the most un inspiring manager we have ever had when it comes to interviews. Nobody had been worse in my 60 years.

It’s like another game altogether to what we are watching now. They should show that reel to Mowbray.

His battles with Mike England were legendary. Not the greatest footballer but a really rough handful and a terrific header of the ball. Up there with Jim Fryatt in that respect. If he’d have been a boxer he would have needed a glove on his head.

Two things I don’t understand . Why did we pay a fee for him after seeing what he had to offer after his first spell here ? Why have we just given him another contract ?

Not when we play them !

Nobody is playing worse than we are. Nobody.

This season is over. Time to start worrying about next season.
