Modern keepers don’t seem to come for crosses. How many times do you see a goal headed in from inside the 6 yard box nowadays ? That rarely happened back in the day. The guy trying to head the ball would find the keeper punching the ball ( and sometimes the player ) away. I thought Brad was the best keeper Rovers have ever had and one of the best I’ve ever seen but he wasn’t the greatest at wiping out opposition forwards in the air.

This time next week we’ll know more. Burnley have Everton at home midweek and Norwich away at the weekend apparently. I’d say they can’t afford to lose either of those two and they must win at least one of them.

Every time we get a chance to kick on we( the chicken chokers ) blow it. When we got promoted last time the town was buzzing . Sold out stadium for the last game. Everybody’s ready for a go at the championship. Then we have have the dead hand of Mowbray and the Indians just content to go into the new season with the guys who got us promoted with a couple brought in to “ help the lads out “. No ambition. Same story at Xmas - no real reinforcements, just more bits and pieces players, squaddies. No ambition again. Next season we’ll be back to the usual fight to stay in the league.
