We’re short of a “ Gazza “ in central midfield. A playmaker who can direct the traffic. With a bit of luck Foden might become that player in time.

I see the England U-21’s lost 3-2 in Georgia. They were losing 3-0 at one point, Ex Rover loaner Harwood-Bellis got on as a sub late in the game.

Yeah Jimmy got to fill his boots against Scotland in that 9-3 dicking a few years ago.

He wasn’t a member of the 1960 Cup Final team. -

The other player has to take some responsibility for that. Do players not realise that they’re killing the game ? -

He played against Rovers in the 1960 Cup Final. I remember seeing him take a penalty for England at Wembley. They used have the nets drawn really tight then. He was a big lad and he really gave it the laces. The penalty went in the top corner like a rocket and bounced out just as quick. Two goalies wouldn’t have saved it. The ball ended up by the half way line. They stopped having the nets as tight as a drum after that. Thanks for the memories Ron. -
He’s got a habit of getting unnecessary cards. He needs to have a word with himself.

Mm, even Diaz is only on 11. All our defenders have good scores yet we keep very few clean sheets. This isn’t a criticism of Tony’s way of working, I think he’s pretty objective. -

I’ve been watching a lot of old games on a YouTube site called “ Heavy Roller “ . The pitches are usually terrible, I don’t remember them being that bad. -

It’s an easy to understand system that pretty accurately reflects who did what in the game. -

I didn’t want Coyle because he’d been a failure at every job he’d had since leaving the dingles. It was an unbelievable appointment that caused me to temporarily throw in the towel. -

It’d be a gamble fitness wise and Newcastle aren’t in a position to gamble. -
It’s not a picnic with all the Covid hoops to jump through. Then play international football a day or two after.

I take my hat off to him, he must really want to play for Chile if he’s prepared to go to all that trouble.

I remember little Jimmy Johnstone running the great Keith Newton ragged in an Scotland v England game just prior to the 1966 World Cup. I reckon it cost Keith a place in the final 22. Sir Alf went with Gerry Byrne of Liverpool who wasn’t fit to lace Keith’s boots. I think he ended up getting 1 cap in a friendly whereas Keith was a regular England full back for about 4 years. At that time Johnstone was a World class winger, unstoppable on his day. Fergie and Mike Harrison were a great combination. One a tricky dribbler the other fast and very direct. Every team back then had at least one really top class winger, some teams had two.
