  1. Wells, Leach and Ratcliffe all ended up playing for my adopted town team of Rochdale. They did a Fred Pickering with Wells and moved him to centre forward from fullback. He started scoring goals for fun in the reserves and he was on the verge of getting picked to play there in the first team when he broke his leg. He never played again after that.
  2. Roy Boy in at Watford apparently.
  3. That’s a bit naughty. They beat us and Bournemouth in the last two games.
  4. I thought they’d seen us get bullied at Hull and thought they’d try it themselves. Tonight we stood up to it and fought fire with fire. Nobody took a backward step.
  5. That was excellent. We played most of our football in the first half and defended for our lives in the second half. That was the most committed Rovers performances I’ve seen for a while. Some of it wasn’t pretty but it was a performance full of guts. Win, lose or draw that’s all I ever ask. We rode our luck at times but last week we got none. I didn’t see this coming but what do I know about football !
  6. We’ll see how we’re fixed for team spirit tonight. It’s games like this that shows what’s beating under the badge. Win, lose or draw I expect us to give it our best shot.
  7. Me too. What does he have to do to get a game ?
  8. Yes, we are not known for our ability to come from behind in games.
  9. “ Gallagher holds up another Rovers attack “.
  10. Yes agree with that. The only place to play Gallagher is through the middle.
  11. I didn’t know Gallagher had any hold up play. I await it’s emergence tonight.
  12. There is usually one “ established “ Premier League team that makes a balls of their season. Poor managerial appointments will do it, but bad player signings, more than their share of serious injuries, etc don’t help. I don’t think Everton will be that team but on the other hand if they did go down I wouldn’t be totally surprised.
  13. I agree with you about the yellow cards, most of them were completely unnecessary.
  14. One good thing, he’ll be able to wear the same kit as he did last Wednesday, it wouldn’t have needed washing.
  15. Yes I agree. Things have changed over the years. When I started watching most of the fullbacks at Rovers could play on either flank.
  16. As a full back it’s as much about jockeying, blocking, tackling etc on your “ wrong “ side that it is passing. You’ve got to have plenty of game time there before things like timing a sliding tackle “ the other way around “ become second nature.
  17. I can’t recall Nyambe ever playing left back. Having said that I’d expect a professional full back to be able to play on the other flank but it just doesn’t happen these days.
  18. It used to be “ an ale house ball “ when I played.
  19. Not been the same player since the injuries.
  20. Oh no, you can’t say things like that.
