Sir Alf went with Gerry Byrne of Liverpool who wasn’t fit to lace Keith’s boots. I think he ended up getting 1 cap in a friendly whereas Keith was a regular England full back for about 4 years. At that time Johnstone was a World class winger, unstoppable on his day. Fergie and Mike Harrison were a great combination. One a tricky dribbler the other fast and very direct. Every team back then had at least one really top class winger, some teams had two.

That’s the nature of the beast with wingers I’m afraid but when they both click it’s great to watch.
