  1. Well at least he won't be wasting any more of the clubs money this time.
  2. There's no guarantee that Dack will reach the heights he has previously. That's not a good injury.
  3. Who'e eaten all the lemon drizzle cake ?
  4. Just read this - he's not that good.
  5. As I said earlier I saw Atsu play against Rochdale earlier this year. Magloire's the one to ask about him because Atsu ran him ragged for half an hour until Magloire was subbed and Matheson came on. Some players have that initial burst of speed over say 10 yards that gets them in the clear. Some players don't always have that but they're fast over say 50 yards. That's how a player can appear to be really fast but over 50 yards they can be getting caught by the longer striding players. Atsu had a great half an hour in that game. Every time he got the ball, which was often once Newcastle figured out he was the danger man. he made something happen. He laid on about 5 good chances of which Newcastle finally took one. He was quick and tricky. When they brought Matheson on he was up against somebody who was as quick if not quicker. He sort of faded out of the game then but so did most of the Newcastle team. Two things you've got to consider - this was against lower league opposition but he won't come up against somebody as quick as Matheson every week. Yedlin on the other wing looked a decent player also. I suppose Magloire v Matheson is a good example of a quick player versus a fast player. Matheson would beat Magloire in a 20 yard dash all the time but over 50 yards it might be another story given Magloire's reputation.
  6. If he doesn't make it big I'd be very surprised. Only his lack of stature might hold him back but somehow I doubt it.
  7. He's a really good player. I saw him play against Rochdale a few weeks ago. He ran them ragged down the wings for a half until Rochdale brought the lad Matheson on who had the pace to keep him relatively quiet. Atsu's fast and tricky. Matheson on his way to Wolves for £1million apparently - that's a steal.
  8. One or two good managers have taken a punt on him and failed miserably. He's best left to his own devices. He'll wake up one morning and realise he's blown what could have been great career. I was reading an article by a United player the other day and he said Morrison was the most talented player at the club at the time. I had a pal who was on Bury's books back when they were in the old Div 2. I was out with him on the Saturday night after he'd had a blinder for their youth team. He'd been told he was playing for their reserve team against Wolves at Molineux on the following Wednesday night. I was walking home from work that night and who should I bump into but my pal. I said " I thought you were playing at Wolves tonight ". He said " Nah, I couldn't be bothered mate, I missed the bus over to Bury and the coach will have left without me ". I'd have walked it to Bury to play in a game like that. He had a similar attitude to Morrison.
  9. He'd solve our left back problem no danger !
  10. I think he wasn't wrong in Pogba's case.
  11. I agree with you regarding him not being a " Man Utd " player. Lots of very good players have flopped there.
  12. Hogan staying fit is a big gamble.
  13. I thought Sunderland have just signed a midfield battler from QPR.
  14. So they're not coming back for Brererton then ?
  15. It wasn't just that. I wasn't massively impressed by his time here either but he was worse at Big Club by all accounts. Add to that he then spent a year treading water back at Southampton. He just wasn't progressing. I really couldn't see that for that sort of money we didn't have better options out there
  16. If there's anybody out there prepared to give us £2.7 million for Brererton we should take it.
  17. Support at Rovers has always been varied. I was looking at some stats the other day regarding the run up to the West Ham 8-2 away win. Briefly we'd- Drawn 2-2 away at Man Utd Drawn 1-1 home to Sheff Wed Won 4-2 away at Everton Won 3-0 home to Birmingham Won 3-1 away at West Brom Won 4-1 home to Arsenal ( Top of the league at that time ) Drawn 0-0 away at Ipswich Won 2-1 away at Liverpool. Won 2-0 home to Villa. I think we were top of Division 1 at this time, gate for the Villa game ? 17,095. My condolences on your very sad loss.
  18. I wonder if the lads who played in Mathews testimonial asked for a fee ? Dougie played and starred in that game against the cream of world football so he obviously didn't bear a grudge. Cheung Chi-Doy was actually from Hong Kong, he played 2 games scoring 1 goal for Blackpool in the 1960-61 and 1961-62 seasons.
  19. Alarm bells started ringing loud and clear when they started talking about a £5 million investment being enough to get us in the Champions League !
  20. If they have it's nothing to do with football.
  21. I didn't go to Bill's testimonial. Alf Ramsey and Bill were full back partners for England.
  22. That was ten years ago. Since then they've learnt nothing. That's pretty unbelievable really.
  23. If I were a winger playing up against Bell and I got the word from the bench to switch wings and try my luck against Nyambe I'd pretend I hadn't heard anything.
