I don't know about that but I thought Dack got a bit lucky with the actual shot. Not the greatest penalty I've ever seen

Tony Mowbray Discussion

Some of us were asking questions about the recruitment of the strikers at the time and got slagged off for being " negative ". -
Tony Mowbray Discussion

I didn't expect him to keep us up and he didn't. I blame the appointment of Coyle for that, it was nailed on from day one after he came in. My reservations started during our promotion season. We seemed to be unable to dominate teams for more than 30 minute spells in spite of having a pretty decent squad of players compared with what we were up against most weeks. The football on show was pretty turgid even when we were winning. We seemed to do just enough to win and then racked our cue. To be honest I would have fired Mowbray towards the end of that disasterous run last season if I thought for one minute the idiots would make a sensible appointment. Add that on to this season and in my opinion he can't take us any further. -
I've just spent 10 minutes watching the goals over and over again.. The lack of commitment on show is obvious. It was like watching a charity game. Strikers just running through centre halves. Armstrong just jogging after the full back for the cross on the first one. God knows who was playing right back, he must have a cloak of invisibility. Bell doing his best not to get involved after his cock up for the first goal etc etc. Really, really bad stuff. I remember the dingles getting battered at home by somebody like Gillingham by about 6-0. Stan Ternent came on Radio Lancs after the game and said " Some of those players will never play for this club again as long as I am the Manager ". And some didn't !

I thought that Stuart. Get him putting the cones out and he's less of a threat.I can't believe he has any input as to how the team plays. -

Listening to the interview I think he already knows that. -
I've only seen the " highlights " but I got the feeling watching that and reading the comments of the people who actually saw all the game that he's lost the players.

You won't get one Jim, you can bet on that. They'll all be out on this piss tonight without a care in the World. When I played badly I wanted lie down in a darkened room and not speak to anyone until Sunday. -
Me too but they're backing the manager more than I would have done after last season. I was less than impressed in the way we got promoted. We never seemed to have more than a decent 30 or 40 minutes in the tank no matter who we played. It was never going to be good enough at this level.
-
Exactly, and he's being paid big bucks to be bigger than that.
-
Yeah, if the club had anything about them they'd compensate the lads who went down there.
-
Which July/Aug was that ?
-
There in lies the problem. The lights are on but nobodies home.

I know it's been a bad day but that interview is awful. I expect more from the manager of Blackburn Rovers, tough as it maybe you have to do better.
-
Nothing, his answers were terse in the extreme. He was asked about injuries and his replies were completely monosyllabic. After that nothing much of any importance was said and I suspect the interviewer brought the interview to an early finish. it was the interview of a guy who knows his race is run in my opinion.

10/10. Just how I feel. If I had a £ for every time I'd seen us beaten 4-2 away over the years I'd be well off. It's not losing, it's the way we lose. We start feeling sorry for our selves as soon as the game goes against us and we just lie down. One thing I do know, I've seen teams were they aren't playing for the manager anymore and this team looks exactly like that.
-
Listen to the interview Jim, he'd nothing positive to say. It was the interview of a man who knows his time is up. Wether that happens is another story.
-
I'm afraid so. Taxi for Mowbray. Somebody needs to reinstate the Mowbray Out thread.

What the f--k was going on for their first goal ! The dozy b-----d heads it back into play instead of heading it out ! If he'd have been a striker for QPR it would have been a great ball. The other goals - absolutely spineless, gutless, cowardly defending. They should be made to walk it back to Ewood. I caught Mowbray's non interview on Radio Lancs - He knows now that at any other club he would be walking the plank tonight ! He'd no answers to anything.

Playing King alongside Gestede would have meant opposing teams having to play ten yards deeper to counteract King's pace. As it was with Rhodes and Gestede they could push right up on us because they knew neither of them would win the foot race against 90% of centre backs. -
What and have to wear flares again ! Not that I ever did !

I watched the Argentina V England game this morning. Much as I'd love us to win it I just think we'll fall short. Too many needless penalties and dropped balls. I hope I'm wrong. -
Adidas Spezial Exhibition
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to Miller11's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
I was always a " Puma " fan myself. I remember saving up my paper round money to buy my first really good pair of boots. Just like ones Keith Newton was wearing at the time. I'd travelled into Manchester to a sports shop that was on John Dalton street and owned by an old ex Man City player. When I found the boots of my dreams they were £5-0-0 and I only had £4-10-0 ! The owner must have seen how disapointed I was and he said " I'll tell you what son, take the boots and bring me the missing ten bob next week ". Can you see that happening now ? Regarding trainers I got a really early pair of Adidas in the mid 1960's. Nobody else had any. They were pale blue and i think the name was " ROM ". Anyway we'd be playing one night and we went for a drink after the game. I was still wearing the trainers and when I walked into the pub everybody turned around and stared at me like I had two heads ! Nobody wore trainers casually then, especially in a pub. How things have changed ! -
I'm not saying Graham is finished at all. However when you get in your early 30's the decline can be pretty rapid.
