  1. I don't think he's City first team standard at the moment to be honest.
  2. Hart - strange signing, Harper - only a loan but why was he signed , Whittingham - major flop, Anttonson ? - not exactly a flop but not good enough to be signed permanently. Samuel ? - not really been a success story has he. Davenport ? Nuttall ? Chapman - this time so far.
  3. West Brom and Leeds would appear to be flying but all of the other teams we would be contending with for a top six spot can beat each other on any given day.
  4. I'd agree with you that most of them have done ok since they've been signed. None have pulled trees up though .Maybe I'm expecting too much ? I used to argue that the route to success was - replace your average players gradually with good players. Then replace your good players with better players, and then replace your better players with really good players. So on and so forth until you have a team of class acts, Gradually, maybe 2 or 3 positions each season. Are we doing that ? Maybe we are. This squad is definitely better than the one that got us promoted 20 months ago.
  5. Mm, he looked very decent before the injury. I'd say it's still a gamble in spite of the fact that modern medical procedures have improved massively with knee injuries over the years.
  6. I'd say the juries still out on most of them. With the exception of Dack and Tosin all of those have been left out of the team this season at some point..
  7. Exactly what my Sunderland supporting mate says about him.
  8. Not many teams win things without a bit of luck at the right time. I always had Mowbray down as an unlucky manager, maybe things have changed.
  9. Maybe we'll end up with a sort of home team and an away team ? More attacking at home and less attacking away. More possession based at home and more direct away.
  10. Mm, I get what you're saying. Let's see if we can get there first.
  11. Like you I was cheesed off with our lack of progress under the current manager. The recent upturn in results has been brilliant, I said a week ago that I welcomed the change in our fortunes but I would see how we went on in the two upcoming away games before I started to put out the flags. Well we did great, If we can keep that form going we should be in with a shout of the play offs. I wonder if Johnno has had an impact in this ?
  12. Stuff like that actually means something. Selfies out on the beer don't. I've called us out in the past for being a soft touch, lets hope the new steely Rovers continues.
  13. I'd be up for that. Count me in for a contribution. Un poco dinero por my neuevo companero. Es correcto no ? I can't do the upside down question mark that should start the sentence.
  14. For the Armstrong goal their right back was fast asleep, yards back down the pitch, playing Armstong on side by a good ammount.
  15. We don't get big gates at the rugby most of the time so normally there is only a crowd on one side of the ground at what used to be called Spotland. A few years ago one of our players was caught short and without anybody seeing him left the pitch, ducked down behind the boundary wall and had a shit. He then rejoined the game. It was noticeable that our opponents seemed to be loathe to tackle him afterwards !
  16. Yes I'm sure you're right. He made some brave decisions today. I'm not Benno's biggest fan but I take my hat off to a guy who'll play where ever he's asked to play. Right back and then left wing is a big ask if you aren't massively gifted. Paul Warhurst could have done it but he was a gifted player. I can't think of many others.
  17. This isn't a criticism of Armstrong, who did everything right, but I thought their goalie made things easier for him by coming out as far as he did so quickly. Then he let the ball go through his legs.
  18. I've got a pal who's a Sunderland fan. His verdict is McGeady's good when he's playing but he seems to be " injured " or out of favour quite a lot.
  19. They must have a lot of spare 'keepers at Brighton. There's another one in Rochdale's first team at the moment.
  20. Good to hear that we " went to war " today. That's were we've been lacking a bit in the past. You have to fight for the right to play your football.
  21. That sort of travelling is far from ideal, especially when you're getting a bit older. Anybody else think that the corner/goal was a planned move ? It looked that way to me.
  22. " Benno put a shit in " ! Where abouts on the pitch was that ?
  23. Rhodes has done nothing for years. Forget about him.
  24. I know but he managed it. Players like Law would miss more games than they played with todays referees. He wasn't a dirty player but if you took liberties with him you were asking for trouble. It's getting beyond a joke. Nobody pays to see 11 v 10 or 10 v 10. I used to laugh at South American referees in the old days but I watched the recent Flamengo v River Plate final and if a current British referee had have been refereeing that game it would have finished 6 a side. No wonder we don't have any officials worthy of the name these days.
