Beck’s what I look for in a full back. Quick, likes a tackle, he’s aggressive, doesn’t take a backward step, excellent decision making, good with the ball at his feet. He’ll go far. Hammering that ball out of play was unlike him.

I thought our decision making on the ball was terrible. We consistently took the wrong approach. Who was it that burst into an open space on our left hand side in the second half and then decided it would be a good idea to hammer the ball over to the other wing and out of play ? Just one example of our dumb football.

Just as long as it’s not too hefty and goes straight through to the opposing keeper which is what was happening in the second half.

They had several 2 on 1’s with Beck in the first half especially. Because Cantwell wasn’t tracking back with any real intensity.

Beck isn’t the sort of player you look forward to playing against if you’re a winger. You know you’ll be in for a hard time.

Watching that was only slightly preferable to knocking nails through the back of my hand. A truly dreadful performance. I’d have had him in centre midfield with Hedges on the left and Dolan on the right today. Gueye 5 I think he went back home during his suspension and his twin brother came back in his place. We don’t play to his strengths though. subs Brittain 5 Proved he’s not a right back. Weimann 5 Wasted the one good chance that came his way Ohashi 6 Looked lively when he came on but got no service as usual. Baker - Only on in time added on.

It wouldn’t have been my team. We haven’t addressed the tendency to play 6 at the back plus the keeper.

You’d be hard pressed to find 10 instances of him making saves that were out of the ordinary. On the other hand you’d soon find 10 instances were a reasonable viewer would be thinking “ he should have done better with that one “.

Not to mention Pickering falling asleep on the far post and allowing their winger an un challenged header back across goal.
