  1. Think he will. With time on the ball he was spraying it around like usual, but was getting caught in possession, which is fair enough as he hasn’t had many minutes in pre season.
  2. Every now and then with TM we’d put in a fantastic pressing performance… then it would disappear, lack of fitness was probably a big part of why.
  3. Indeed SG, The passing around the back has improved markedly as you would expect as we’ve practiced it enough! 😁 Now the ball is moved quickly into midfield with the opposition dragged out of position, textbook really. It’s even seemed to have quietened down the ‘stop pissing about wi it!’ Mowbray piners around me…
  4. Went on their forum and they were even arguing over his ‘legendary’ status as a player. ‘Clogger of a player, clogger of a manager’. 😬
  5. Personally I’d go down the yellow card route for time wasting, only issue with that is some refs would quickly bottle it.
  6. Again totally agree, we have a committed core fanbase, but this ownership and the third rate set up they employ is what has held us back this past decade as football has boomed. So, so much potential at this club, it just needs sparking.
  7. Managers say this stuff all the time. Of course they want to protect their job and/or reputation so they can get a new job if needs be… and it’s not just in football, politicians engage in it too - ‘expectation management’.
  8. We have great fans, Gav, I’ve never said anything to the contrary. I totally agree, success increases gates, just like everywhere else. But the point you are missing is that crowds have boomed, regardless of success on the pitch, across English football this past decade, but not here. Not sure why you don’t seem to be able to join the dots, as you don’t normally have an issue pinning our myriad issues on a certain family.
  9. Aye, there better not be a single kit left over or the order is being slashed again next season!
  10. If there’s one thing I don’t struggle on it’s gates. Course I expected a good crowd, I literally said yesterday we’ll have c13k home fans, it was 13,800, a good turnout (like we had last season). We always get an opening day spike. I hoped we’d have 3/4K for Girona, (my point that you missed as usual, was for Miller and crew not to be disheartened if they didn’t hit their target), we had 5k, *amazed*, I was. 🙄. All these years on here and you are still crap at wind ups.
  11. Well that obviously didn’t happen, you were wrong as the stats showed. But I let you debate it with me anyway as you most kindly have allowed me to post on the cricket thread.
  12. No chance he’s getting a PL job anytime soon (which is great for us).
  13. No think that’s what plenty of others on here tonight need to do. Fair enough if you are reflecting on the ups and downs of fandom, a load of others on here aren’t. Enjoy the win and let’s debate the game and a good performance instead of a load of posts like ‘god this place’, ‘inundated with negativity’, ‘harmful vibes’, ‘ha meltdowns all week’. Such posts do nothing but antagonise. People love this club and have quite rightly been very worried, they don’t need belittling.
  14. ‘Negativity ‘🚨 Oh and ‘positivity’ 🚨
  15. First game always gets a better turn out than the following games… hope springs eternal for football fans!
  16. Yes like I said we’ve generally been around c14k for a decade in this division, Coyle season the outlier as ST sales went markedly down that summer on the back of his appointment (unsurprisingly).
  17. Those figures are incorrect. 19/20 is miles off for a start.
  18. Not particularly. Average gates of c14k for a decade, sometimes a bit less. But generally that’s the figure which makes sense as ST sales have largely remained stagnant at the 8/9k mark for years. Whereas they’ve boomed across football this past decade.
  19. Of course crowds increase if you are having a promotion season, in the top flight etc. But most of the time you aren’t so lucky, and these current crowds are not following the trend of most other clubs these past ten years - I.e increasing markedly regardless of what is on the pitch… and we know why.
  20. I know, I’m talking about how what is always looked back to as a golden age of attendances (the 50s) isn’t dissimilar to what we are seeing now across football, crowds are booming… but not here.
  21. We averaged around 22/23k in most second division seasons in the 50s… and we weren’t far from that in 1999 to 2001. So a historical norm to be averaging 20k+ in this league. We shouldn’t be so far from that now… but we all know why we are.
  22. To be fair it was only largely FA Cup ties that saw those kind of crowds a handful of times a season. Across the game league crowds are now at the same level as they were in the 1950s (not here though obviously). Amazing the gates the cup saw though when you look at it’s diminished stature now.
