  1. Early 90s and they were one of the top sides in the country. Top 4 finishes, a load of cup finals. Nobody would’ve believed that after relegation in 99/00 they’d spend a quarter of a century yo-yoing between the second and third tiers.
  2. Just Jim, no? He has this bizarre chip on his shoulder about ‘southern clubs’, when in fact seeing the likes of Brentford and Luton thrive should drive on all Championship club fans as it is shows it is very much possible for us all to reach the promised land.
  3. Higher profile club, higher wages for him, parachute payments so bigger transfer and wage budget - ergo I’d be very surprised if he turned down a Leeds (but luckily I highly doubt he’d be offered it, Leicester too).
  4. Barnsley are a quintessential yo-yo club I’d be more than happy to see them back up.
  5. It probably won’t ‘happen again’, but just once was extremely costly for the club. Not a serious football club in so many areas… however GB does seem a professional person, so if he has grabbed control of elements of the Club Secretary’s/CEOs purview then I’m fine with that.
  6. ‘Everton fans don’t like his style’, do me a favour, shows what lemmings a load of football fans are, in what way is ‘his style’ any worse than what went before?
  7. Obviously Everton are a ‘big club’, just a crap team.
  8. So if you don’t amble about the pitch after not finishing in the bottom 3 of your division, you don’t care? Aye ok 🙄
  9. Forget all this, I can’t wait for Malta and North Macedonia.
  10. Certainly after these cloggers!
  11. Only two hours to go, roverandout, you can do it!
  12. We may well have gone down at some point, the Ince incident was evidence that mistakes can be made and they can almost be fatal for club’s our size (though JW quickly got the clown out the door and replaced with a proper manager). Difference being if the worst had happened under the JW regime, the parachute money would not have been pissed up the wall and half the ST holder base would not have disappeared overnight. We are still suffering due to the ridiculous and arrogant decision making (oh sorry, ‘naive’) made between 2010 and 2012.
  13. I get it, I was there. But what’s this got to do with Ennis? Who we pining for instead?
  14. So? I agree with you that he wasn’t a ‘popular’ signing’. My point is why would he have been? He was a cheap unknown. Ergo I’m not sure what your point is.
  15. It didn’t ‘divide the fans’ as nobody knew owt about him to start with. So of course it wasn’t a particular ‘popular’ signing. Just a bit of a pointless debate you’ve started.
  16. Luton are a good club, decent sized fanbase (hidden by the fact that their ground is so small), they’ve won a major trophy in the past, spent a fair bit of time in the top flight, they aren’t anything like a Bournemouth that actually came from nowhere.
  17. Course it is, all the way back to ‘92. I said ‘traditional’, not every time.
  18. I was responding to Phil that said he was ‘released’. Just not having that the fanbase was angry about a bloke with a shed load of caps for Turkey arriving. Not exactly a marquee signing like Cole, but most fans were just a bit non plussed - just like when Brad came in.
  19. He was only here on loan.
  20. I can understand why they didn’t have the Championship one today as they probably didn’t want to put it up against the PL final day, but why Saturday and not the traditional Monday I’m not sure.
  21. Hmm, not sure I agree on the Uhlsport one, but then I suppose we did get relegated in it, so maybe that’s clouded me. Early/mid 90s Asics, great, but the later away shirts were a bit naff too - the luminous yellow one, that orange one. Whereas I thought all the Kappa home shirts in particular were great. But it’s all a personal thing.
  22. Of course I love the Asics shirts, but I reckon if we’d have had the Kappa kits in the 90s instead it would be them that’d now be seen as sacred.
  23. Were the kits themselves ‘magnificent’ or were they just by association due to a great team and memories?
  24. So? This fella actually won them taking them from 9th to 3rd in the process. Obviously Jones set the foundations (with the club generally doing a lot right over the last decade), but *all* the credit is Jones’? Just a daft statement.
