Jack took us away from the 80s. Go to other stadiums and even now you realise that the new Ewood was built to a superb standard, so how hard is it to give it a jet wash once in a while? Obviously it all comes from the very top, but there has to be an element of blame for those on the ground - where’s the professional pride?

None of it is ‘pointless’, of course the attendances and the pitch are far more important than a less pixelated big screen or a nice pint of a local ale. Getting decent players in and competing for promotion is the most important of all. But my point is it all of it adds to a match day for some. A dilapidated, grubby ground nicely sums up how the club is run away from the football side.

Love how John Howarth gets front and centre there. I’d say he’d have got O’Brien through the door… but then we did mess up another pretty big potential deal for a Forest player in his time!

The City extended highlights were supposed to be on Granada that night, some fella called Martin Tyler was commentating. Obviously it was cancelled on that tragic day and put on at about 1am days later. We recorded it and must have watched it dozens of times, as it was rare to get more than an odd snippet of a goal on the local news in those days (maybe part of the round up on Saint ‘n Greavsie if you were lucky!)

We’ve gone around the buoy a million times on by far the biggest issue - ticketing. People have mentioned the piss poor food and drink options. But off the top of my head - fix the tannoys, currently they are either broke or ear splittingly loud. Sort the hilariously bad fanzone big screen out. Have some kits in stock in the club shop later than about fecking October, as you know there is quite a big footfall on a match day… oh and give the place a deep clean! On their own are they massive issues? Not particularly. Am I personally impacted by most of them? Not really. Do they stop me getting caught up in a good game of football and cheering on the team? Also no. But should the club have a bit of professional bloody pride and sort them anyway? Absolutely!

I was talking about a pretty bland tune to have pre a football match, not exactly the La Marseillaise, is it? I wasn’t discussing the merits or otherwise of our constitutional settlement, but ok 😁

Considering City didn’t get close to selling out their allocation for the FA Cup semi final I reckon that’s a nice tactical ‘boycott’ from their fans there. 😁

Not quite as simple as that. If these lads and I’m talking teens and up don’t even see themselves as Rovers fans, the fact a second division ST is £375 instead of £275 doesn’t really come into it. The reason most of us are Rovers fans is because it was passed down by family, it’s a generational thing. Asian families as a rule don’t have that, so it has to be a different approach, I.e getting them young through the Ewood Express etc. Now if a 7 year old kid enjoys his match days down Ewood and does see himself as a Rovers fan then the price is an issue as I imagine suddenly asking to go with his family at these prices would be a little bit of a sticking point.

Think you over thinking it, he’s obviously just giving players a game as it’s already won.

You do make me laugh. All this money and the mess it makes is fine in English football as you like watching it on Sky. But as you don’t have BT, all the money in European football is *terrible*. 😁

Pretty much. So they could have two goes at the opening batsmen with the new ball. Quick half hour burst tonight, where they could’ve prised out one or even two of them - then another go in the morning as the batsmen try and play themselves in again. Age old tactic… but normally it’s with about 500/550 on the board at that stage of day 2… not with 390 on day 1! It’s BazBall baby! 😁

I would say football is far bigger with young Asian lads these days than cricket. Big change on that front over the past couple of decades… unfortunately it’s still a very small percentage that support Rovers.
