  1. Women’s football thread. Having a debate without either posters or the mods clamping down on it gets ever harder on here…
  2. Delete the whole thread?! Fair enough if certain posts cross the line, deal with them appropriately, but an interesting discussion could’ve developed there. Very heavy handed ‘moderation’.
  3. Very poor at Rangers by all accounts and that’s in a side that dominates most games they play.
  4. Women’s football is now heavily marketed and given a lot of prominence in the media, England are European champions… so why is it still that only one man and his dog are going to WSL games (and it’s very cheap too)? Maybe I’m a misogynist too, but in reality I’m a crowd obsessive as you lot obviously will have spotted! So I’m intrigued to why the club game isn’t taking off?
  5. Yeah but think of how much hospitality and bottles of plonk they’ll sell next next week 💰
  6. Making yourselves hostages to fortune by judging ‘success’ on bums on seats. 10k?! We don’t get close to that for FA Cup ties, even some league games (night games). It’s a friendly against very low profile opposition in the peak summer holiday period. Be amazed if more than 3/4k tickets are sold. And that’s not a slight on anybody, the Trust organisers or the fanbase, just how it is for pre season friendlies.
  7. Hasn’t stopped Barca beginning a £1.25 BILLION ground redevelopment…
  8. Presumably it was past the wit of man to charter a flight for the players back from Graz. But surely you would alternatively get them on a coach for an hour for a direct flight from Vienna? Instead of that caper via Frankfurt?
  9. It’s only routine, liking their particular seat/folk around them, the ease of not having to bother getting a ticket every other week etc that keeps the core buying, it is certainly not a cheap option anymore.
  10. Get your point generally TOFT, there is no worry about getting a seat here which drives demand at a lot of other clubs, so if you don’t price them well either then they will obviously struggle to sell - but you didn’t need a season ticket in 1976 either as supply far outstripped demand then too.
  11. Supply and demand, only 6/7 thousand max to sell in a small ground, not a club that has the capacity to sell 20,000+
  12. Garishly colourful vapes quite obviously aimed at kids through ‘influencers’ on TikTok and the like - ergo now absolutely rife in schools.
  13. Sure you always say it ‘shouldn’t be about money’ when a player has the chutzpah to leave Rovers? Oh and didn’t Neville come out with all that before he took the Qatari beIN Sports cash? How did that moral campaign of his go again?
  14. Why more of a fuss now? I’d say largely because of all the stories emerging from schools re those ‘elf bars’ and the like over the past few months.
  15. What about if you aren’t under embargo, don’t pay fees and don’t pay big wages? (Sorry said clubs may have a secret war chest 👀
  16. Hyndburn has been a Rovers stronghold since time immemorial, but with Stanley now a perennial league outfit (plus being a far more proactive club than this one) and the Dingles spending a lot of time in the Premier League, I’d be interested in the views of residents to how our support is holding up there?
  17. Think he’s finished as a player even at this level (soon find out). But interesting that a non parachute club is presumably shelling out big wages.
  18. I imagine they’ll only open the terrace if there’s enough demand.
  19. This budget, this squad won’t suddenly change to automatic promotion because of a couple of highly promising teenagers (and Phillips will only start relatively few games anyway) and because Gregg can find free transfers. Head in the clouds, I’m afraid.
  20. Love the optimism, but you do get carried away for such a wise old owl (Wharton better than Bellingham at the same stage wasn’t it the other week?) it’s not the norm for non parachute clubs to get top two and I’m not seeing this squad of players being close to good enough/large enough to get there - there’s a reason the parachute clubs pull away in the run in most seasons.
  21. Clubs like that (I.e plodded around in the lower leagues for a hundred years) can suddenly build crowds because they have big catchment areas - Bristol City another. Ergo that in itself makes them ‘big clubs’ in their eyes - they ain’t.
  22. And how many post Rotherham in January? Obviously we had a fair few teething problems in the first half of the season (yet we were still in the top 6 throughout by the way), it was to be expected with an average bunch of players adapting to a new broom after five years of plodding about.
  23. Not sure about that, JW is actually busier than it was for full STs last season, whereas the Blackburn End is quieter - which makes sense as it is balancing out overall to hit pretty similar figures to last summer by KO. It's bleak generally at this club as pretty much everywhere else booms, but it's no worse than last year.
  24. Perhaps 8,100 is paid for STs? The additional few hundred you counted were comps?
