  1. It isn’t, of course. Fanbases are made up of all kinds of fans, some can commit to pretty much every single away game, some will just go to local/‘big’ aways. Some will always buy a ST, some will walk on when they are free. Pretty basic stuff, but you know, there’s re-tweets and Likes to chase.
  2. ‘Some fans only go to big games’. Who knew!
  3. To be fair at least half the pages on this thread are nonsense 😁 But generally, yes, I can even remember match threads still on page 1 an hour before KO.
  4. And obviously the extra 5k wouldn’t be paying £30 as plenty of concessions, so it would probably be about 100k of potential sales lost. These Dingles obviously think Venky’s are like Andy Holt in which every penny from big away followings count. They won’t bat an eyelid, these are owners that have literally turned down millions for players on a regular basis and are happy for them to walk out for nowt.
  5. Maybe because 6,000 Norwich fans wouldn’t quite be as difficult to steward and police than 6,000 Dingles who’ve been on the piss for about 10 hours.
  6. Of course you can’t force a player to move, footballers run down contracts all the time. But here, Armstrong aside, when did we last sell anyone for any kind of decent fee? A rather odd ‘trading club’ that never sells a player. But, the penny has finally dropped it seems. So all power to GB.
  7. Best lock the thread then.
  8. Start the promotion party… and we are all invited again!
  9. Only thing they could do is ‘Join 1875 today and get your ticket for £15’ (they won’t) Ergo it will be empty seats galore, and the country will think ‘eh? massive derby? Why’s it half empty then?’
  10. I obviously don’t disagree on JRC as the quoted post states. I was talking *generally* re contracts and it looks as if finally the club seems to have got its act together after learning some hard lessons.
  11. Another example to why bundles are a waste of time… yet they keep on doing them (and keep on selling bugger all of them).
  12. Burnley have 14k ST holders, so much easier for them to get 19k fans in (only needed to sell 5k walk ons) than us with 9k ST holders.
  13. Not at all. But you aren’t getting close to 20,000 walk ons for a midweek Sky game at those prices. We never have, ever, in thirty years of the new ground.
  14. Behave Phil. No chance. I doubt Rovers fans will be allowed in the DEnd anyway, but let’s presume they were. So that’s 2k away fans, 9k ST holders. So 20,000 walk on tickets to sell to home fans at £30-£35 a pop for a Sky midweek game. I doubt there will even be a need to open the BEnd Upper. I’d wager about 16k/17k unless they do something drastic with home ticket prices through the 1875 club. 31k, think you’ve been in Malta too long 😁
  15. The irony of *checks notes* Spanish players talking about the scourge of diving and gamesmanship in football…
  16. Not sure what’s ‘unfair’ about it? Those are the EFL rules, so perfectly fair. End of the day opposition fans have obviously enjoyed years of having a huge crowd in the Darwen End, cracking day out, I’m sure. But it was purely to fill club coffers, no club was ever entitled to it.
  17. Why would it have mattered if this place would’ve been annoyed that he got a new deal?
  18. Countries playing friendlies in late March with players who have played 40/50 games, great ay.
  19. Why should we be suddenly taking 2k to every away game? We aren’t charging to automatic promotion. Normally we’d expect to be taking c1k to Saturday aways in the midlands, we’ll have more than that. We’ve just had 1,600 at Stoke on a Sky Friday night, 6k at Sheff Utd, we’ll have 2,500 at Hudds, 5k+ at PNE. So anything around 1,500 at Birmingham in these straitened times with £50 trains is plenty. Nowt to see here.
  20. And we’ll be back to *four* of them next season too. 😫
  21. 24 teams to reach the finals out of one continent is obviously going to make a mockery out of a qualification campaign, largely a stroll for the bigger nations.
  22. Bury gone, Oldham and Rochdale in non league. Such a plethora of clubs in old Lancashire (especially in the vicinity of the Manc giants), shows how this region is the heartland of the game, but obviously very tough to remain competitive/solvent.
  23. Sounds like the LT, produced in Bolton and sub-edited in *checks notes* south Wales.
