  1. But records aren’t the same though, are they? As they don’t compete in the same competitions. So how can a female player ‘overtake’ a male player or vice versa? I.e, Rafa/Novak/Roger have been competing for a decade plus to be the GOAT male player with the most slams. Serena to overtake Margaret Court is the equivalent narrative. Surely it should be the same in football or it all becomes meaningless? The female game should feel strong enough as it grows to stand alone with its own legends and record breakers.
  2. He did beat Burnley and Bolton home and away in his one full season…
  3. This is the club they want. The next fella after JDT will be operating with the same parameters or they won’t get the job.
  4. Ha very random question . All things being equal, of course. But obviously he would never work in an environment like this. ‘Projects’, ‘development’ etc.
  5. Of course there are issues, of course he’s got things wrong, he’s brand new to English management - his approach to the derbies and the inability to get back into games once behind the major two. But on the whole, he’s settled in well when you consider the players and budget he has to work with in a league so unfairly tilted by parachute payments. So it was absolutely ridiculous to talk about sacking the bloke (well, I suppose it isn’t really as that’s forums for you).
  6. JDT is obviously doing well. 3rd in the table, actually winning cup ties. Not a lot more you can ask for a new manager operating without parachutes. But he‘s ‘clueless’, ‘has to go’ from a vocal minority on here up until a week ago…
  7. It doesn’t even make sense. When Serena Williams was after becoming a record grand slam winner it was always in the context of the women’s game, I.e ‘will she pass Margaret Court’s tally?’ not Rafa Nadal’s.
  8. You never disappoint roverandout 😁
  9. 2 wins in 27 attempts at Portman Road going back to the 1950s.
  10. Think his point is we weren’t ‘founders’, I.e signatures to the founding documents that established it in early 1992 in advance of the 92/93 season, because we were still in the old second division, whereas first division (at the time) Notts County would have been signatures to it.
  11. Won’t somebody think of the run of games!
  12. Should have given that Coyle more time, I mean stability is very important.
  13. They can talk about ‘stability’, ‘transition’, ‘he’ll be given time’, all day long, but keep putting in performances and getting results like this and he’ll be gone soon enough regardless.
  14. Love that very specific request of those two middle of the road PL clubs. Obviously a big fan of their very similar bowl style stadiums.😁 Surely you want a glamour tie or a very winnable one at home against second tier or below (which we’ve got), those two are neither of those!
  15. Because new managers often do, especially in the short term (and short term is the point as they cannot afford to go down halfway through a stadium build). Why else are the likes of Big Sam often parachuted in? New voice, back to basics. But I’d find it hilarious if they go down, so let’s follow your approach and crack on Lamps!
  16. They are a basket case who have made a lot of bad decisions, but that doesn’t change the here and now and mean they shouldn’t make a change this time. He’s had them in two consecutive relegation battles. If they want to carry on with a failing bloke, it’s up to them, but it’s a hell of a risk for them.
  17. In normal circumstances, possibly you could make an argument for keeping him on. But can Everton really risk a relegation when half way through building a new stadium?
  18. There was definitely an argument for a stronger side with a place in the quarter finals at stake, but I think most fans that bought a ticket knew it was going to be a second string (or close to it).
  19. Well obviously, it’s a Rovers forum. Though it’s all very tame in comparison to what a Rovers fan would get on UTC (if they lasted longer than 5 minutes, that is). ‘Trelleborgs’, ‘bought the league’ just boring old tropes you hear from every sad and bitter Dingle, always thought Longers prided himself on being a bit more cerebral…
  20. Doesn’t take much needle for the true colours to come out…
  21. Fulham, Brighton, Brentford seem to be enjoying themselves…
  22. So that’s both Wigan and Blackpool now midweek in the middle of winter… wonder if Swag will still try and price them at Cat A.
