How is a midfield of 18/19/20 year olds going to get you out of the Championship and established in the Premier League?

The fact so many raw academy lads are starting games very much is a big problem.

PL ambitions? How will a club that doesn’t want to sign experienced midfielders ever going to get out of a league as relentless as this? They either know they won’t so all this ‘established PL club’ stuff is just a sop to fans and/or the owners or they really are naive enough to think a load of teenagers could possibly lead to promotion…

It’s the foundation of any successful team at this level, but as GB himself has said experienced players ‘block pathways’ of teenagers. This is not a football club that is serious about promotion.

Two meetings with that plonker and not even a staff list on the website to show for it!

Sack him tomorrow and the next fella will still be playing a team full of ‘development’ players ( so it’s wildly inconsistent week to week as a matter of course) - as that’s what the club will insist on. Once you realise that this club is unlike pretty much every other professional football club, I.e they exist to win as many games as they can with the resources they have, then it all makes much more sense.

If he’s a moron then so is the majority of the fanbase as that’s the line you hear time and time again away from brfcs…

The 3rd may well be 8th soon enough (though I don’t see death spirals with this bloke, we’ll pick up wins on a fairly regular basis largely because we are very solid once in the lead), but once in 8th do we then sack the manager months into the job? Why, is that a sackable offence with this budget and set up? And why would he be sacked anyway as that team with a load of ‘development’ players (be they ours or other club’s) is exactly what ‘the club’ wants to see on the pitch...

Not sure home gates are anymore an issue because of this manager. We all know why they struggle to grow. 12/13k home fans every week, pretty standard over the past few years (and far better than half of last season) and that’s with them more expensive than ever.

He isn’t ‘clueless’ though, is he. He’s a ‘lot to learn’ to coin a phrase. But to have this ragtag lot as high as this, comfortably more wins than anyone below? And he should be sacked? I’m breaking my own rule of commenting in the aftermath of defeats, as this place loses the plot, but to read that managers should be potted after a few months when top end of the table with this budget and players? Take it the ones asking for his head will be getting the chants started at the next Ewood game?

It was. Lots of sage nodding on here about his ‘midfield pathways’. GB spoke with a sense of professionalism and calm, no doubt, but this isn’t Norway, this isn’t youth football. He seems to be very naive about the realities of a long Championship season and what is needed to get through it - I.e experienced heads.

Why?

Was it just last night that plenty on here were in full agreement that we shouldn’t be signing experienced midfielders?

Surely it’s the opposite? Very bouncy personality, it’s his style of play that’s dull…
