  1. A second division midfielder that has spent most of his career at struggling Reading is ‘out of our league’… still, could be Bury, couldn’t we.
  2. Bloody hell Clive Tyldesley has put some years in!
  3. A pitch invasion to celebrate what, exactly? When I’m crying in my Wembley seat a week later, I’d feel a bit of a wally for prancing about on the grass…
  4. Social media is a cesspit where trolls will obviously make merry with this. But with actual football fans in grounds? Will there be abuse? Yes, look at those idiots yesterday, but it will be much more isolated and far more infrequent than it would’ve been twenty years ago, same in dressing rooms. Society had changed a lot, social media often masks that.
  5. Both then, fine by me. Fathers of European Football.
  6. Bilbao have used both the shirts of us and Southampton. Classic brfcs thread about it here… *NB, we haven’t half lost some regular posters over this reign of terror (that’s the Rao’s, not J*B and Herbie).
  7. 7 London clubs, plus three on the south coast, plus potentially Luton. That’s a hell of a lot of southern clubs and it’s a pretty grim development… but considering it will be a northern club that takes the final relegation place regardless, not sure I understand Jim’s logic of wanting Burnley to stay up to counter the likes of Brentford, Everton and Leeds can do that for us northerners thanks very much!
  8. So first we were reliably informed that Nyambe and Rothwell can’t wait to ‘go down south’, latest update is Lenihan (and his entire family) would not suit a north east lifestyle. Chadster is missing his calling presenting Location, Location, Location…
  9. Christ, imagine the state of the club if they weren’t interested…
  10. GSTQ/K will always be the royal and UK anthem, but I do think England needs its own anthem for sporting events as a differentiator. And it is not without precedent, as Land of Hope and Glory is used for England at the Commonwealth Games, plus Jerusalem is played before play at Test matches…
  11. I was there, remembering queuing up at at about 5 in the morning for a ticket, my mate was about ten people behind us… they’d sold out before he got to the counter (and he had more ‘stubs’ than me 😁). We went with Darwen Blues on Des and Phil’s 007 bus, think we stopped in a pub Ormskirk way. No smartphones, obviously, so you kept hearing folk shouting stuff like ‘Cole’s missed a penalty’ (there was no penalty) , torture! Still remember the coach getting back to Ewood and fans were all over the streets welcoming us back like a conquering army… my dad them disappeared until the Ewood party night the day after 😅 Epic times, what a journey, and what an honour to be a part of it.
  12. With Cooper off the list, that is one piss poor bunch, imagine purporting to be a big time agency and that lot being the cream of your ‘talent’…
  13. It was a good achievement, no question as you can very easily get stuck down there, however we also got lucky, us and Wigan aside it was a very weak league, I mean, Shrewsbury were our biggest rivals! Now you’ve got Sunderland, Wigan, Bolton, Sheff Wed, Ipswich, Portsmouth, L1 masters Rotherham all around the top 6.
  14. I’d rather have him around the first team than anywhere near an executive position. *Cough* real estate *Cough*
  15. There was a load of them travelling pretty big distances every day at one point; Graham, Downing, Chapman, I assume Pears, Johnson from Derby. It’s up to them, but can’t be good for you if you want to operate at optimum levels…
  16. Four weeks?! So six weeks before the season starts, plus ça change!
  17. Nah, that’s going to be Venus’ role, the shit that won’t flush, from Sharpe in the LT… ‘Venus has worked alongside Mowbray throughout his career, but has stayed on after Mowbray’s departure, including at his previous club, Coventry City. He has worked closely with current head of recruitment Park, and previous incumbent Stuart Harvey, and while his time as assistant manager may come to an end, there is the prospect of him staying on in a different capacity. It is understood that Venus’ contractual situation is separate to that of Mowbray, who said he couldn’t speak for his assistant when asked of his future.’
  18. Footballers ay! So entitled, everything on a plate. All you need to do is keep fit and half of them can’t be arsed with that…
  19. Lampard was an odd and risky appointment, but the Leeds one was even worse, ridiculous decision to make in a relegation fight…
  20. A ‘dream transfer fee’ which won’t be anywhere to be seen for the team, but it will kick the FFP can down the road for a bit. As I suppose, finding something decent to sell every year so we can scramble away from sanctions, players, training ground, is the ‘dream’ these days…
