Definitely right, the club realised that he was the whole reason they were on the gravy train and paid him accordingly, he received a cut of player sales too, I believe…

If he does stay, and there’s nothing in his comments that strikes me as any different than his usual late season shoulder shrugging, then it’s obviously not ‘certain’ we go down next season. Yes, some fairly average and not arsed players will go, but some loans will come in and back to the usual grind we go. Every chance of more of the same form, I.e pattern of decent runs and disastrous death spirals, but probably without the bizarre November/December surge, so we’ll be more like 2020/21 and fall from 7th to 18th instead of 2nd to 10th. If he was under contract for next season, he’d be here in August, regardless of results, simple as that - the complicating factor is the fact his deal is about to expire, but I still foresee a rolling contract of sorts being signed. -
‘Dyche, whose £7 million-a-season contract with Burnley was due to run until 2025, was the Premier League’s longest-serving manager. The assistant manager Ian Woan, the first-team coach Steve Stone and the goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer have also left.’ Well there’s a big chunk of the first year of parachutes accounted for.

Numerous posts putting Kean, yes *Ke*n*(!) above the present incumbent, you know the scumbag that played a major role in destroying this football club, and even now we are still seeing the rubble of his nefarious period at the club… think it’s time for bed for a few on here. -

Low blow? Behave 😄 He obviously wasn’t a well known manager generally, I mean if you asked a PL fan this time last year it would’ve been ‘Steve Who?’ But at this level? Of course it would’ve been a progressive move if he’d have arrived here, but of course, we just limped on… -

Are you relatively, or otherwise unknown, as a Championship level manager when you’ve just been in the Championship play off final (and second season in a row for the play offs) ? The bloke was obviously one of the league’s hottest prospects, if you aren’t personally paying much attention to the division you play in’s managers then fair enough… -

Speak for yourself, if that theoretical appointment had happened, it would have been literally weeks since he had Swansea at the play off final (and that was his second consecutive play off appearance)… -
It may well be over by the end of Easter, but of course you don’t give up and ‘play the kids’ when you are sitting one place (and two points) outside the play offs with five games to go…

He got Swansea in the play offs, now he’s doing the same again, not exactly a big gamble on their part… -

That’s exactly what they are doing, but surely the better the devil you know with Dyche to attempt to avert said disaster than blindly taking a punt in the madcap world of the football manager market? But it goes back to them not understanding the game, not understanding the Championship, not understanding just how good a job he’s done to get a club like that so far punching above their weight… -

Most of their fans realise it’s a ridiculous decision, just like most of ours did in 2010 (yes, there’s always a minority of loud know nowts that make a noise about sackings after defeats) Yes, relegation could well be a disaster for them, so why then sack the fella with a track record of getting them out of the second tier (if he didn’t keep them up to start with) ? Because their owners don’t understand the game one iota… which is nice. -
Still lives in Northants, stayed up here a few days a week.

He was on enormous wages and had years left on his contact, so will have received a mega pay off, so can wait it out until something enticing comes around.
-
Indeed ARA, the naivety of yon mon in the post above yours never ceases to amaze me. Any parachute club will be able to offer substantially higher wages than a perennial mid table second division club withering on the vine. He’s 28 and after spending his entire career at a much diminished club, he’ll be looking for a last big, multi year contract to set him up for life.

So having a team ‘well drilled and organised’ is a sign of being a ‘dynamic coach’, is it? Step up Tony Pulis!

Attendances: A cause for concern

In Accy itself you can kind of understand it, though not ideal for a club like us with a limited fanbase to start with. But for Ossy, Rishton, Great Harwood for that to be the case is extremely worrying, those are prime Rovers towns that just happen to have their bins emptied by the same town hall as Accrington. The lack of strategic nous down there is nothing new, but to somehow lose the youth of those areas to Accy bloody Stanley takes some doing! -
‘I play him on the right and ask him to run those channels and get in at the back stick from balls coming in from the other side, Obviously he can’t understand your Teesside tones, Tone, as he’s rarely in the bloody box!

Rovers are running into big issues in Hyndburn, an absolute heartland for the club since day dot - but now if you are a young footfall fan without Rovers fanatics as parents, are you really going to be looking towards Ewood for live football when you have an upwardly mobile club doing their utmost to get you in their tent? And that’s without even going into the sizeable numbers of former longstanding Ewood attendees that now go to Stanley on a regular basis. Alas, those running the club have an obsession with only targeting BwD areas for engagement, as if fan loyalties to a club totally stops at 1970s created council boundaries, and as the Rovers Trust have pointed out our fanbase stretches out far further… -
Straw poll, has anyone signed up to the LT paywall?
-
We’ve spent most of the past decade in the bottom half of the Championship, before this season we’ve not had a sniff of success even at this level, in front of often a two thirds empty and rotting Ewood, we sold our lowest numbers of STs for over 30 years last summer, we’ve witnessed all manner of journeyman players and managers come and go, the club has visibility shrunk on and off the pitch and is now a mere shell. It frankly, has been a load of old shite, so to have our fans wanting more of this brain dead existence, just because we might get a beating at Man City (let’s get spanked 7-0 at home by the mighty Fulham instead), just seems a ridiculous lack of ambition for Blackburn Rovers. Sport is about striving to be the best you can, otherwise you might as well fold the club, so in what possible way is the Burnley experience of the past 5/6 years not preferable to this never ending stasis?

Generally speaking across football corners must be the most overrated thing in the game… yet fans go wild every time the ball goes out for one! -

Oh I agree, as I posted on Saturday night, for the first time it was painfully obvious that the belief and workrate had gone, in some ways it’s a testament to the players that they’d maintained belief for so long after months of muddled tactics and accompanied terrible results.
