  1. Of course we can, their fan base isn’t Chelsea’s, or even Fulham’s socioeconomically, it comes largely from the Hounslow/Heathrow/Hillingdon areas, not leafy west London. With all due respect Morten how on earth would you know that significantly more Rovers fans would ask for refunds? The remaining 8/9000 ST holders have been enormously loyal this past decade of shite. We aren’t all yokels with outdoor loos up here. Most ST holders I know wouldn’t have requested one, so anecdotally a third seems a fair enough figure to me.
  2. Also in today’s Times - QPR gave ST holders a choice - ifollow, refund or discount for next season. A third have asked for a ‘refund’, now I don’t know if that means a straight refund or a deferred one. We get similar gates here, so if that was replicated here that would be less than 3,000 refunds at around £40 a pop, it’s very worrying if the club thinks that is threatening the very existence of Blackburn Rovers...
  3. It’s from Henry Winter’s piece in The Times this morning. Almost a throwaway comment that of course fans should be expecting either refunds, discounts on next season or formally be able to donate it - so a choice. Shows just how different this club’s stance is...
  4. As long as we went up, we could do it on Pleasy for me. At least we then wouldn’t see the spectacle of Waggott and the other hangers-on having a corporate jolly in an empty ground whilst fans with decades of support have their collective noses pressed against the window...
  5. Well obviously! But considering there will be no gate or hospitality receipts, but still a hefty staging cost it makes zero sense to still play them there... but then they would have to come to an agreement with another ridiculous organisation in the FA.
  6. The mega club Real Madrid as they flight for a league title are currently playing their games at their training ground’s mini stadium (6,000 capacity). But of course the ridiculous EFL decides it has to play 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier matches in a 90,000 capacity empty ground ?‍♂️
  7. He’s not even been on the bench all season, whilst new signings and young lads have all pushed past him, and there’s been a load of injuries in midfield positions and still no sniff. Surely by Christmas he should’ve seen the writing on the wall and been angling for at least a loan move? Maybe he was and it just didn’t happen, but ‘it’s a short career‘ doesn’t just mean money’
  8. They can ‘clearly state’ what they want on a website article, it doesn’t negate Ts & Cs, which is a contract between business and consumer. If they did try to pull a fast one and hide behind a press release the ‘club’, I.e those running it, are both legally illiterate and immoral.
  9. Still thrown away a season of his career (at a midfielders late 20s peak too) to sit on a nice contract... which he’s perfectly entitled to do, by the way, especially as he won’t see that kind of deal again, but it has surprised me a little as it always seemed the type that loves playing football and wouldn’t be happy just to train with no sniff of the first team squad at a weekend.
  10. Perfectly sensible that darren... https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/june/championship-play-off-dates-confirmed/
  11. Cracking emotional intelligence on display as always there ?‍♂️
  12. They can’t ‘just claim it’, and ‘set rules after the fact’ that’s breaking consumer law. They can play the guilt card, pull at the heartstrings and all the rest of it. But they can’t break the law even if they think most fans won’t dream of taking legal action against their own club - but one fan might and that’s the precedent set. EFL lawyers will deal in facts and risk, not emotions.
  13. Exactly, so there won’t be any small print about it in your ST Ts&Cs. So you can’t be waiving anything by signing in to a streaming site.
  14. So not a blackout then? Just no top flight games at all at 3pm on a Saturday. Another bit of tradition sacrificed on the altar of lucre. I like how he conflates it with the pandemic. The PL will come out of this in relatively decent shape, so this is merely just a way of keeping those PL TV deals ever increasing whilst the EFL edges closer to ruin. What’s the old saying? “Never let a good crisis go to waste”...
  15. I must be missing something? What would be blacked out at 3pm if every game is shown live on a separate time slot?
  16. Says a lot about how seriously he looked after himself before. Though if he had been a ‘proper athlete’ to start with he would be in the PL already, so his fondness for a pint or two has worked out well for us...
  17. Done deal according to their forum... https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/jon-mclaughlin.1516241/page-27
  18. The fact Waggott mentioned to the FF that he has ‘concerns’ (politician speak for ‘it ain’t gonna work’) says that the clubs are expecting it to fall over...
  19. Why not? The BBC for example let you select between TV commentary, radio commentary or none at all for their live games...
  20. Christmas?! What happened to September? Slackers
  21. I don’t think getting a steer on club thinking on next season would be ‘empty air’ at all. Didn’t need to be any kind of firm commitment at this stage obviously, but just an acknowledgement that the club realises that they could be staring down the barrel of mass non renewals if they fail to recognise that ifollow does not satisfy a large chunk of the ST base, couple that with an incoming severe recession and fans simply getting out of the habit and we are looking at a perfect storm (perhaps the mood music coming from Waggott did give the impression that he understood this potential critical issue but it just wasn’t minuted).
  22. It was Ewood Spark formerly of this parish that came up with the cardboard cut outs idea, I see. I suppose inanimate objects can’t tremble
  23. So the FF didn’t press him on potential options for next season, quelle surprise. However, as Birdy (AB) gets to have his match day sponsorship rolled over to next season and not just donated to aid cash flow, I presume it will be the same for season ticket holders next season...
