The Godlike Genius of Charlie Mulgrew

‘Option’ being ‘I ain’t going back unless Mowbray’s sacked.’ -
Then we stay as we are, a club in suspended animation for evermore, as these owners don’t look to be going anytime soon.

‘Management Consultant’, whet else!

Yet nowhere to be seen on here, still a very shadowy character... https://www.rovers.co.uk/club/whos-who/

Of course, 11 years ago were a normal football club with an empowered main man like John Williams making decisions. We lose 3-0 on Saturday, then what, at this empty shell of a club?

Manchester Originals - Cricket... Kind of?

Not a chance I’ll watch it and I’m not the only one thinking the same going off social media. Record crowds for the T20 blast this year, all they needed to do to build further was to get some matches on free to air TV and ride the World Cup momentum. Instead they’ve ripped up 150 years of history and regional identities, for what? 20 less balls? Do me a favour! #boycottthe100 -
Over 4,000 sold so far the club has tweeted. We should be selling those kind of figures for our only daytime local game, but I’m still pleasantly surprised.

Thought we’d gained a 100? 8,600 from 8,500? https://www.rovers.co.uk/contentassets/d47edf0f19cd47dea3a73e898f8da69c/ff-minutes-9.9.19.docx

We all have opinions on what Mowbray should do and my first one is to ask Mark Venus what exactly he offers the club besides a jarring reminder of Paul Lambert? He seems to evade any of the criticism. Some serious mental gymnastics going on to absolve TM there. Why should the assistant manager be singled out? And the fairly low profile coach that is MV gives a ‘jarring reminder of Paul Lambert’, how exactly? Players, Venus, who next to blame apart from, ya know, the manager? The PA announcer? Groundsman?
-
‘I’ll support them evermore‘ too. But for me supporting ‘them’ is wanting the best for the club, not blindly backing Tony Mowbray, who is just passing through like the rest. For the good of the club it’s looking like time for a change.
-
Now or the summer it’ll be a nice pay off either way with the contract he signed last season running until 2022.
-
I’d be amazed if we had 3k. Anecdotally, the vast majority of folk I know that went last season aren’t bothering.
-
Well obviously you can’t change all the players. So you change what is possible. Fresh regime, fresh ideas.
-
Exactly, ergo looking like time for a change again.
-
Why is it unnecessary?

Recruitment no question. But the last 18 months were poor performance wise. Trying to just stay in games and have ‘a right good go’ in the last ten minutes. No hard feelings from me, he was a bloke learning his trade at a pretty high level, but lets not get the rose tinted specs out, his sacking was overdue.
-
As I’ve said before, relegation was the best thing that could’ve happened to Mowbray. We are now plucky little Rovers, forever ‘in transition’ in a higher league. Even though we had a Championship budget that blew everyone out the water in League 1. If we’d had stayed up at Brentford and trundled around in 15th to 20th since he’d have lost the fans long ago, instead there’s barely a murmur.

As I said in another thread. Coyle got dogs abuse on Boxing Day at Barnsley. However, this being the Venky world he limped on until February.
-
Goes back to the usual issues, the club has no real Blackburn based hierarchy, creating a vacuum that is easily enough manipulated by a canny manager who can extend his power base and ergo security in the role. Who would be pulling the plug? Waggott? the bloke recommended by TM from Coventry? An administrator, not a decision maker. TM’s just appointed his own assistant as ‘Head of Football Operations’. He’s well dug in. The owners I assume are as hands off/oblivious as ever, so presumably Suhail is the only option (if anyone is).
-
Yep,,looking at what were the uber positive Facebook groups the tide has undoubtedly turned. Preston could be his Barnsley Boxing Day...

Who’s biased? Me? I’m still on the fence personally, unlike others that wanted him sacked after two games... Talking about handing out bans, being ‘inflammatory’, ‘not the kind of language to be associated with brfcs’ etc. is OTT to me as it is pretty obvious DE used it to describe a safety first, risk averse management style. Not that Tony Mowbray, who seems a nice and all round professional fella is a coward. Think you are looking for something that isn’t there...
-
If people think he has a ‘cowardly’ approach to setting up his team that’s up to them. I just think he’s a bang average manager personally. But come on, you don’t think your outrage is slightly OTT?
-
Behave Dreams! In your rush to clamber up to that moral high ground you are mixing up your vocab. ‘Banned’, ‘inflammatory’, ‘not the kind of language to be associated with brfcs’. Are you for real? You can be cowardly without being ‘treacherous’. Think you are conflating a fairly standard descriptor of a risk averse manager in football parlance with its archaic usage, e.g. to describe World War 1 conscientious objectors/deserter etc.
