  1. I’d feel sorry for him if he wasn’t such an arrogant arse.
  2. Apart from the fact that before your time on here, Venky employees have been regular posters.
  3. Yeah I remember that, the entire Jack Walker was packed from what I recall.
  4. A few go now, either as cast offs or late in their careers. In the 80s and early 90s it was elite players, especially when English teams were banned from European competitions.
  5. Souness, Jimmy Greaves, John Charles, David Platt, Trevor Francis, Ian Rush, Des Walker, Ray Wilkins, Denis Law. Loads for Sampdoria, who I always looked out for as my Great Grandma was from Genoa.
  6. Ha it was ‘Goalazzo!’ But everyone thought it was ‘Goal Lazio’, because, you know, Gazza! Anyone else love the Gazetta review show on a Saturday morning, but thought the live games on a Sunday were usually terrible?
  7. So it comes down to folk not liking being proven wrong and admitting as much. That won’t ever change on a forum, especially not this one.
  8. But you don’t need to have a squad as expensively assembled as Fulham’s to have a shot at promotion. As the other play off contenders prove. We don’t and won’t have that kind of budget, so why keep going with the comparison?
  9. There you go then! Some folk just have different views even if they seem irrational to me and you. End of the day brfcs has always been more ‘negative’/harder to please than other social media platforms, half of it needs to be taken with a pitch of salt. ‘Agendas’ just isn’t helpful for the forum.
  10. And the rest, their support stretches from the Scottish Borders across to Cumbria and down as far as County Durham which then becomes more Sunderland territory, but even there there’s plenty of Newcastle fans. Old Lancashire with its 15 league clubs, it ain’t.
  11. It’s still in place. So if Waggott’s stats say it isn’t encouraging people to buy earlier and they are still coming down to Ewood on the day to buy, it’s reason for introduction has failed, so I presume it will be scrapped next season?
  12. They were struggling to hit 20,000 in the early 90s, then Keegan came, bit of momentum, promotion and exciting PL seasons and their crowds more than doubled in about 2/3years. So loyal, ay! So just like any other club then, success brings crowds in and as they are lucky enough to be sitting in a region with a vast catchment and little in the way of competition they can attract numbers. Also, it’s a myth that their fans have watched shit for decades. From Keegan to Super Mac. Then a great decade in the 90s and numerous Champions League campaigns under Bobby Robson in the 2000s. Woe is them, just give them the cup!
  13. Those skin things under a short sleeved shirt instead of these things of beauty.
  14. I’ve noticed they’ve made Bristol City Cat A even though it’s down as a Cat B on the season list. I presume trying to manoeuvre folk towards the bundle.
  15. Worked some years at Rovers, Barbara Magee...
  16. I’m making a comparison to other competitions and what is deemed a success. We all use comparisons when discussing topics. Not sure how that means I’ve lost an argument Anyway I’ll defer to Dreams’ post, as I’ve been in enough barneys for one day.
  17. Yet free tickets and it’s miraculously full again... some protest
  18. Their gates had dropped 10,000 this season until they gave away free half STs. How spoilt, take away their Deserve Trophy.
  19. I’m talking about this past decade.
  20. Being silly there EiT. Palace wasn’t a ‘success’, but Don Mackay was a top manager for Blackburn Rovers with the environment he had to work in.
  21. Amazing how much folk just lap up Sky hyperbole. 50,000 Newcastle fans from a big city and a region with very few league clubs in it are loyal. The 12,000 or so Rovers fans that have stuck by the club this past decade are loyal (small town, surrounded by professional football clubs, as many just in east Lancs as the whole north east of England). The lower league fans that stick by their club instead of supporting glory clubs are loyal. No individual club or fan deserves anything.
  22. They are one of 3 league clubs in the whole north east of England, and the only PL club in the region. So of course they fill their ground. Not sure why that means they ‘deserve’ anything. Are they more committed than a Rovers fan? No, there’s just more of them as an accident of geography.
