Championship season 2019-20
Mattyblue replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Those sessions watching Evans and Smallwood play centre mid properly have obviously paid off... -
I’d had a few pints but unless I was mistaken I so ZERO subs warming up second half.

The Relegation Thread (15th edition)
Mattyblue replied to jim mk2's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
9 wins in 31 since the debacle at Brentford. 32 points in 31 games. Relegation form. -
I never pay attention to pundits, at our level nobody ever does a bad job and they protect each other. He gets sacked, and a new guy turns it around, said pundits are the first to agree a change was needed and this new fella is the best thing since sliced bread. Was ever thus.
-
Possibly, whatever it was, it wasn’t a fan base turning on the manager.
-
I say a few as there were plenty clapping too. Wigan (Ince), Barnsley (Coyle) away it weren’t, and I don’t think it ever will be for TM, just like it never really was for Bowyer.

The reputation of the club
Mattyblue replied to MCMC1875's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Our hard earned reputation went down the plug hole the day Williams et al were forced out. A decade of rubbish on and we are now a small time irrelevance to most in the game. -
The players were booed by a few as they tried to come over is all I heard, didn’t hear any anti Mowbray chants...
-
? That was the point I was making! There are these diamonds out there, blowing £7 million on ‘potential’ is a crazy way to operate for a club like us, Preston’s ‘model’ seems to be working much better from where I’m standing.

Bullied by Stockley, brought in from Exeter. Barkhuisen scores two... from Morecambe. Shows what proper management can achieve at this level...

Very simple, that year in League 1 has lowered expectations to such an extent that 18th in the Championship is good enough for plucky little Rovers. Relegation was a godsend for TM.
-
Just like with the players, it shows the folly of giving mediocre pros long contracts.
-
Still didn’t get the impression at the game today that he’s lost the majority of match going fans, and that’s a passionate away support that you’d expect to turn first, not the largely docile Ewood crowd. When one guy near me came out with a few brfcs-esque comments along the lines of time for a change , he was rounded upon by a dozen or so, ‘get behind ‘em’, ‘he got us out of League 1’ ‘who we gonna get?’ Etc.

The wheels are coming off. As it wasn’t just him sat on his arse. He chose to make no subs until the last few minutes, ok that’s a manager’s prerogative in a tight game, but our subs weren’t even warming up throughout the second half, something I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed before.
-
He did, very positive, talking about winning game after game, not accepting failure and being a ‘champion team’. This is Fleetwood, spent most of their existence well down the non league pyramid, they still attract less than 3,000 home fans a week in a league with Sunderland; Ipswich Town et al. Yet their manager wants to go toe to toe with everyone. Quite a contrast...
-
Doesn’t matter that it’s complete nonsense, it will be part of their mythology now. File it with ‘plastics’ and all the rest of it.

Ian Herbert of this parish doing the preview show on Radio Lancs as we speak...

other Quick Question About The Darwen End Flags
Mattyblue replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Wasn’t it Ben Summer who used to post on here? @Ben-2000 I think was his forum name. -
To be fair, he has them top of League 1 now with one of the smallest budgets (obviously it’s still October).
-
And to make it worse we haven’t actually SOLD 4,000+ tickets. The club has been handing them out free in Blackburn town centre, wish I’d have known, would have saved us a few quid. https://www.pne-online.net/forum/index.php?threads/and-they-say-we-are-obsessed-with-them.3429092/page-11

No, but I could imagine Bowyer saying it, which seem apt at the moment.

Churchillian... “I’m sure on Saturday, we might get beat and they might be better than us, but we’ll be there competing.”
