  1. Ah, you’ve changed your parameters now. Similar impact to the side? Fine. As anyone with eyes can see as footballers they are nothing like each other.
  2. But it doesn’t make them ‘VERY similar players’, just similar stats. Their dribbles would be different, even if successful. Their ‘key passes’ would be different in style, Buckley’s more intricate etc. Having the same amount of assists (Goal Contribs) doesn’t make them similar players either! ‘Lies, damned lies and statistics’
  3. Red button and freezing temperatures? It will be no different than any other midweek game. Swansea may see a bit of a spike in interest if we win tomorrow...
  4. 5 minute drive, not exactly in the sticks. Fernhurst has run a 30 room hotel for years...
  5. The Stats have spoken. End of discussion.
  6. ‘VERY similar’ is pushing it. Unless you mean wearing blue and white halves and football boots...
  7. I don’t think there’d be any negative reaction at all. Tony Parkes dedicated his life to the club and it would be a universally popular move. As much as many on here light not like to here it, the regime is nowhere near as unpopular and motives aren’t questioned in anywhere near the same way as they were at the time of the Ronnie Clayton re-naming etc. As an example, last day of the season becomes ‘Tony Parkes Day’ and there is an official re-naming of the Riverside pre-match, I don’t think we’d be hearing much in the way of dissent.
  8. Yeah don’t think there’s even a spade in the ground yet...
  9. Where next? Isle of Man? Orkneys?
  10. More sweeping (and false) statements from Mani. In reality what was often said on here was that £1.7million for a goal scorer who’s played at every England youth level was a good deal and low risk as there was always every chance we’d make our money back, in comparison to some of the other deals we’ve entered into. £1.7million for a young forward with ‘pedigree’, England youth caps, and 50+ Championship appearances = good deal. £7million for another young lad with the the same stats = not so much.
  11. Mani tells us it’s only FFP stopping them from heavily investing in players, indeed ‘they are desperate to’.. no FFP for infrastructure. So...
  12. But there’s always the chance he never fulfils the potential he showed at U18 level. Many don’t, the game is littered with examples of ‘whatever happened to...’, Let’s hope he isn’t another for all parties concerned... but that’s why £7million was a hell of a punt for a club like us.
  13. We weren’t far off one of those a couple of Tuesdays ago in Storm Ciara (11,000 official ‘attendance’, of course )
  14. Ha you’ve asked for it now! Literalists incoming...
  15. Not knocking TM. Unlike many others I’ve never called for his head. However, think GB deserves a lot of respect for the job he did around 2013, when there was every chance of back to back relegations with the club engulfed in a civil war.
  16. Depends if we, as a club, embrace safe standing or not. It makes sense to me, as it allows it for both home and away fans, doesn’t impact any existing season ticket holders and can be used as the basis for a Singing Section which will only help the atmosphere in the ground.
  17. Good for you. I on the other hand support English football, so I hope the ‘Big 6’ get knocked out as early as possible, to stop them raking in even more cash to the detriment of our game and it’s competitiveness.
  18. Or you make the DE lower safe standing, home/away split.
  19. No I said he’s had a more stable club to operate in, which those first months aside, he has.
  20. Bloody hell Darwen Dave’s been a councillor some years...
  21. Indeed, so if it doesn’t impact FFP, and the owners ‘never refuse to sign a cheque’ and are ‘desperate to invest’, I assume Waggott will have the bulldozers ordered...
  22. It’s just a bit of speculative chat on a Sunday afternoon. As we know nothing will come of it, apart from maybe necessary remedial work.
  23. We have one? I thought that was for just requesting signed photos of Harry Chapman...
  24. I wasn’t particularly a big Bowyer fan. But by his third full season he had to flog pretty much any player of decent quality, Mowbray has spent £12million in his third season. GB started with a basket case, ended in an embargo. I probably rate Mowbray higher, but how is the job TM’s done ‘far ahead’ of GB?
  25. Well adding up is a fair assumption, no? All online ground guides have it as 11k. Only thing for it, get counting those Riverside dots on the e-ticketing site. Who wants to volunteer?
