  1. Was it only a couple of months back when they were staying up and chanting ‘We’re Bolton Wanderers, we do what we want’ after somehow avoiding a points deduction for cancelling fixtures?
  2. Shades of us at Barnsley in relegation season. How the clownshoe stayed in post for another two months after that Boxing Day debacle is beyond me... ‘It is a ground where the tunnel is in the corner near the away fans and as Boro players trudged off a sizeable crowd of simmering Boro fans gathered to make their feelings only too clear. And tempers almost boiled over as Rudy Gestede gestured dismissively at supporters as he disappeared down the tunnel’
  3. The lengths the two clubs will go to to avoid fans actually watching one of football’s oldest rivalries. The tour of Lancashire towns that aren’t Blackburn or Burnley continues to... Oldham, 2pm on a Tuesday. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/february/new-date-and-venue-for-burnley-game/
  4. Possibly, and fair play to them if they go and win there, but every chance they drop a few points next week. Plus 3rd, 4th and 5th are dropping points too.
  5. But... PNE are away at West Brom and Fulham next two games. Two massive games at home for us, could’ve turned on its head by this time next week.
  6. Must have re-opened one, as only 3 on relegation day... when we needed 4.
  7. Only 3 of the 4 left, isn’t there?
  8. Gaz actually kept a compete basket case up (The Season of Five Managers), then had us 8th and 9th. It fell away for Bowyer once the cash dried up. TM has had a much more stable club to operate in. So is TM ‘far ahead’ of GB?
  9. No it doesn’t NEED to happen if a club is run correctly with a strategy that is fit for purpose. But we have been optimistic before, c2014. We will see if we are a now a properly run club over the next season or two, or if the current execs are just talking a good game. As always we are at the whim of unpredictable owners with the added spectre of FFP.
  10. Doesn’t it feel great to wake up on the morning of a game with that nervous feeling - 8 years of largely plodding along made me nearly forget what it felt like...
  11. Maybe BB doesn’t matter ‘strategically’, if AA goes for £15m+, but we DID delve into another club for a 19 year old, for a hefty premium too.
  12. These ground issues can go on and on, Wimbledon played at Selhurst Park for a decade. Hope Cov have a decent deal on rent...
  13. They play in Trafford Borough (Stretford), not Salford. But yeah, not in the borough of Manchester, like Citeh (and FC United).
  14. Not permitted in the EFL, I believe. When Sutton United, who use one, were doing well in the cup the other year and towards the top of the National League, I remember them saying they wouldn’t be allowed in.
  15. Another piece on the anniversary. Good read, however this quote from Waggott was a bit of contradiction... ‘With young players you get the high energy, but also the highs and the lows and inconsistencies and he knows that. But we’ve got a Category One Academy that costs £4m to run, so why would you want to be delving in to other clubs for 18 or 19-year-olds when you’ve got a Category One Academy.’ Didn’t we do exactly that with £7million on a 19 year old from Nottingham Forest? https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18250849.inside-story-tony-mowbrays-three-years-rovers/
  16. I know they are, I’m just interested in how you have reached these views on the owners?
  17. I see, a lot of insight to a bunch of people halfway across the world we’ve seen or heard nothing from for nearly a decade.
  18. Phoenix club Bury AFC that is. Bury FC to be liquidated and football just shrugs.
  19. You know all this how?
  20. Then fine, but it’s a bit literal. As an example, losing to already relegated Forest at home in 1999 didn’t mathematically put us down, but with only treble winners elect Man Utd and Newcastle away to come, it was deemed ‘must win’, we lost and we all knew we were fecked. Like a lot of things in football, it’s an expression, a mind set.
  21. This your gaff?
  22. So by your reckoning no game is a ‘must win’ unless not getting 3 points on a given day means you are mathematically unable to get in the playoffs, out of the bottom 3 etc.
  23. Good write up of the 3 year anniversary in the LT. But of course, can’t be the Telegraph without a glaring error - apparently TM is the first manager since Souness to clock up 3 years... apart from the near 4 years of Mark Hughes, of course! https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18250919.mowbray-saw-rovers-a-project-approaches-milestone/
