  1. 1970s bureaucrats have a lot to answer for...
  2. YES they are!! (Not Sedbergh). From medieval times!!! The boundary set in 1182 at the River Mersey. Why else would Lancashire county cricket club in the 1860s set up their club in Manchester!! How much more ‘tradition’ do you want! Bloody hell!
  3. Because they’ve been out of the modern county for 40+ years, younger Scousers see themselves as ‘Merseyside’, fine, doesn’t change the facts that the historical county exists. And yes Southport has been a Lancashire coastal town for hundreds of years, despite the 1974 administrative boundary changes. Always amazes me when Lancastrians inside the ‘modern county’ try and diminish their own heritage. Anyway. Let people talk about players from Lancashire town clubs, as it could be an interesting thread.
  4. Well it has. So stop talking nonsense.
  5. By who? Of course they are! Just because they are cities. They are as Lancashire as any of those places. http://www.forl.co.uk
  6. That’s not traditional! Lancashire contained Manchester and Liverpool, plus much more for a thousand years until 1974. Though the historical county still does exist. But if you mean ‘town clubs’ then fair enough.
  7. To play for a Lancs club? Matthews was a Stokie. Real Lancs or the small modern area? So George Best, Kenny too?
  8. ‘Brigger’ made me think PNE. Though plenty of Rovers fans live there too...
  9. Yeah keep your card... https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/june/keep-your-card/
  10. 5th? I know you were excited about Bauer, but come on.
  11. He’s the ‘fan columnist’ Used to be RevidgeBlue and LD Rover of this parish in years gone by.
  12. Yes they do. And no I wouldn’t.
  13. So you CAN put a new signing in then. That’s ALL I’m saying. Though every situation is different and will be judged on its merits. Thought it was a fairly innocuous post, but obviously it makes me a ‘clueless FIFA 19er’. Fair enough, debating brfcs style
  14. Don’t get your point? My point was simply Downing signed and played straight away.
  15. No chance 9 days of training in an international week, the players are given a fair few days off. Seems you don’t understand training schedules. I would say ‘give him a chance’, obviously. You must be confusing me with someone else.
  16. Oh I see. 3 days of training over about 5/6. Come off it BDS. It obviously can be done, as I’ve just proven, it just won’t be on this occasion, so maybe hold off the insults in future.
  17. As an example we signed Paul Downing on deadline day... the following Saturday? Straight in at centre half! 3-0 win. Good job the opposition didn’t realise he hadn’t spent weeks working on set pieces at Brockhall.
  18. Aye ok! No new signings go straight into sides. What a crazy idea! Especially players that have recently been performing at this level in front of players that can no longer cut it. By the way, my comment was about you saying ‘you don’t drop the captain’, my reply was he hasn’t stated a game since March, so a ‘clueless’ comment. But you carry on with your ‘FIFA’ and other poor attempts at insults.
  19. Is it hell ‘insane’. He played In this league all last season, at a better level than Mulgrew. A few days training and get him in. Mulgrew and Lenihan have only played together a couple of times in pre season. 72 minutes at Rangers and at Blackpool. Pointless argument as he won’t be playing anyway. Maybe gets a start at full back in about September.
  20. That’s exactly what you said. You said you don’t drop your club captain for a new signing as it isn’t FIFA 19. When Mulgrew got back fit, he couldn’t get back in the side, much to the pleasure of everyone, so I don’t see why he should be a shoe in now (he will be, of course). New signings have gone straight into sides since day dot, load of rubbish to suggest otherwise.
  21. You are talking like it’s Mulgrew’s shirt to lose, ‘you don’t drop the club captain for a new signing’. He lost his place in March due to piss poor performances.
  22. Dropping Mulgrew? Thought TM already had. Hardly started a game after March...
  23. What negativity? The crowd has been great in Mowbray’s time.
  24. Because 1864 keeps stating ‘that we need to get behind the team’, when I’ve seen no evidence for the last couple of seasons that we won’t.
  25. Of course. As at every club.
