4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in 2011, and we all know how the 2011/12 season worked out...

Oh how I wish we’d have had Roy Keane in 1993...

Season Tickets 2018/19
Mattyblue replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I had a chat with John Williams about 10 years ago, he told me about when he joined the club, the board said to him 'you've got 8,000 fans'. His response was obviously 'but our average crowd is 20 odd thousand', 'yes, but the 8,000 will stick with the club through thick and thin' That's always stuck with me (and I've probably told this anecdote before ha!), and he never forgot it either, when he saw PL crowds drop to 16,000 in the mid 2000s as some season tickets had risen towards £500, he brought in the 'Taking Back Ewood' campaign that dropped prices significantly across the board and average crowds rocketed to 26,000. He was aware that Rovers have a limited fanbase in a largely non-affulent area in the most competitve region in the country for clubs. We've seen that '8,000' ring true this past couple of years as even the Coyle nadir and third divison still saw that number of ST's purchased. However, treading water in the Championship (at best) will not see any significant increase in sales if prices are going to head towards £400. Waggott (though his hands are obviously tied by the owners) needs to understand the Rovers fanbase, it's limited in size (and the Kean debacle was a disaster for it, lost us half our match going fans in a single summer) and lapsed fans need enticing back through some imaginative offers. They will not pay big money for an average product in substantial numbers, they never have, well the 8,000 will... -
Season Tickets 2018/19

Think we'd sold 8k-ish at the start of the season, but a few hundred more bought the half STs and those Big 6 deals. -
But isn't what was a 'realistic level' 3, 4 years ago, now something else entirely? The Championship has moved on and if we are not careful we will be left well behind (if we haven't already).

Around 9,000 sold. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16363040.rovers-season-ticket-update-as-liverpool-sales-top-10000/?ref=mac Waggott still thinks they can get to their 10,500 target. Think he's very optimistic myself as you'd expect the vast majority of those interested would have sorted their tickets by now. Maybe O2G knows more to how many are normally sold from this time of year till the end of August, is there normally a late spike? -
Some will, but I've not seen a negative reaction like this for a long time. I mean Birdy!
-
Suprised Bruce didn't jack it in, though he has a ready made excuse for a poor season...
-
Mick McGrath, yes. Dave Whelan not ring a bell BDS? He's told the broken leg at the 1960 cup final story just the few times...
-
Shame it will be behind the paywall and the majority of the population won't have a clue it's even on... (Yes, I know you have Sky chaddy and that you find it very reasonable)
-
Spotted on Facebook that even Birdy isn’t buying one - I’ve never, I repeat never in all the time I’ve known him not seen him in the new shirt. Doesnt bode well for sales (though he may be riled that he wasn’t asked to do the launch campaign )

Christ, there aint half some left field betting markets these days!

The red and blue blocks of the Riverside finally get their day in the sun... oh it's a 'heritage' kit, must be shutting down then
-
Used to really annoy me when the likes of Andy Sinton and Steve Stone used to get in squads over Ripley and Wilcox.
-
"f*** sake, why do I always have to launch the kit?"
-
‘The lighter blue design last appeared on Rovers’ home shirts during the 2014-15 Championship season and famously featured in the 1991-92 campaign, when Kenny Dalglish’s side triumphed at Wembley to secure promotion to the newly-formed Premier League.’ The kit wasn’t a particularly light blue in 91/92, are they not getting confused with 90/91?

Perhaps pre match on Thursday there will be some sort of official launch at the club shop?
-
The club does seem to be very good at the cloak and dagger stuff these days. Often no inkling of a signing until he’s sitting at the boardroom table with Mogga smiling proudly behind. So it does makes me less concerned than in previous years, but the clock is ticking...
-
He'll be nearly 26 by the time he returns to Chelsea - never played a game.
-
It's all about being the best you can be, he's defrauding himself and the club.
-
Sure I heard the roof had to be kept on as the game has to start and finish in the same conditions...
-
You still can - Everton had Chang until 2017, the marketing budgets are obviously biggest in the gambling world...
