*Some* young people don’t stay here, plenty do and they need to be catered to. There’s nearly 20,000 empty seats most weeks. What’s to lose?

Every club has a load of kids in the stands. The problem is that jump from parents paying to suddenly having to find hundreds of quid themselves for their now non child priced season ticket. So plenty just stop going. Plus, many of that age group help whip up an atmosphere, so it’s a double loss. A Forest-esque initiative would help keep them in the tent.

Read today that there’s a good chance the FA Council (i.e your Rob Coar FA tie brigade) may reject it. Though I’m sure the various chairmen of Old Sarumshire et al can suddenly change their minds...

Ha! I assume we’ve had a similar conversation! Or should I say rant?

Interesting how many posters have vanished...

Spoke too soon: It’s a good point, because without Jack Walker throwing money at them like a drunken sailor on shore leave, they’d be a League One Club at best, which is about their level. We’ve had 7 seasons in our history outside the top 2 divisions. Indeed we spent the majority of the pre Jack 80s trying to reach the top flight. This club is steeped in history, 10th most successful club in England, 10 major trophies, it really pushes my buttons to read such tripe.

Must be, because there aren’t half some rum places in Nottingham itself.

Was he an apologist? Page 2... Oh and as for that clown Hughesy, Jesus wept.

A nasty bastard centre half has to be the priority in January. -

And that’s fair enough chaddy. Some folk pick and choose home games for the same reason. They can’t just ‘find a way to go’. -

Chaddy picks and chooses his away games. He’s chosen not to go to Bolton because of expensive tickets and other inconveniences - he’ll watch on Sky instead. Some fans pick and choose their home games. Some will choose not to do Leeds because of expensive tickets and other inconveniences - they’ll watch on Sky red button instead. Chaddy thinks these fans should find a way to go regardless. -

There’s no need to join as a season ticket holder this season. I can’t envisiage a match in which supply will outstrip demand for away tickets, certainly not pre general sale. No Fleetwood this time. -

Which is what I believe Leeds do. You pay £20 at the start of the season and get £10-15 off your ticket each week. -
This is on the BBC website. A nice soft focus piece on how terrible it is to be a Newcastle fan. Compare and contrast to the outrageous treatment we received from the media. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45678196

The season ticket thread has turned into that now anyway.

Exactly, so you’ve been put off going with cost and all round inconvenience. Just like a potential match goer to Ewood often finds. I’m up for any kind of offer, but they don’t really seem to add much to the crowd - it was tried a few times last season. A better idea would to make a high profile game that your floating fan is interested in, like Leeds, Villa or Preston cheaper. But they won’t. -

The surcharge is complete nonsense and not something we ever had before last season. Again Chaddy, you don’t seem to realise that there are Rovers fanatics like me and you, but there are also those that ‘pick their games’. So Joe Bloggs make a late decision to come to the Leeds game. Jack Walker stand - the surcharge will make his ticket £32 in the wings or £34 in the centre! In the second division!!! Red button it is for Joe. Just like it’s Sky for you for the Bolton game. -
Good post, though I do think you’d get diminishing returns with £10 tickets every week. Though nearly £30 a game is absolutely crackers. Mods: maybe merge this with the season ticket thread?

What makes me laugh about these noon kickoffs is it is for such small margins. The standard away allocation (if you were keeping Rovers fans in the Darwen End) was 5,500, that allocation ensured a 3pm kick off. Any more tickets and it’s a full Darwen End job for away fans - and a noon start. So Leeds have been given nearly 8,000 tickets then? Really cashing in? No, 6,800. So all this palava for an extra 1,300 tickets? Yet net it will be less as the early start and probably red button coverage will put off some home fans from buying, so all in all the extra tickets sold will be in the hundreds. When PNE bring about 3/4,000 it will be even more ridiculous to be sitting on Ewood at 12pm, with a load of Rovers fans sitting at home/pub watching the red button. EARTH TO WAGGOTT!! -

Indeed gumboots. A club with our limited fan base loses 10,000 season ticket holders between 2010 and 2012, how many of those will ever come back? And if they don’t, where are the replacements to fill their seat? The club should mull over this kind of stuff before we start hearing about ‘wanting full houses’. Something, by the way we’ve not had on a regular basis at Ewood since 1996. -
Like it chadster. Destroy all records. Should be the BRFC Dark Ages in the club’s history.

Exactly right tomphil. We have a core of 10-12k that turn up to watch any old shite - proof of that these past years. But unlike other clubs we don’t have the catchment area to quickly raise attendances on a good run. A club like a Boro who are one of only 3 league clubs in the whole north east of England have fans from across Teeside, plus into County Durham to the north and North Yorkshire to the south, they can add 5k on to the gate in walk ons on the back of feel good factor. We just don’t have that. As I’ve said on another thread our crowd has always been heavily reliant on season ticket sales, we haven’t ever sold many walk on tickets game by game. So Waggott needs to do everything in his power therefore to increase those sales each close season. This summer was a mammoth missed opportunity to do just that. So, the ‘disappointment’ of the powers that be need to start looking closer to home for answers. -
A bit of cash spent and their fans think it’s the second coming of the Clough years. You wouldn’t think they’d been out of the top flight for 20 years with two stints in League 1 to boot.

Even the yearly puff pieces in agency friendly papers have now stopped.

Mowbray disappointed with attendances. Not true what he says about grounds like Pride Park being full when we go there - well over 10,000 empty seats at Derby, for example. But there is obviously a feeling within the players and staff that they deserve more backing - they do. Though perhaps knock on your Chief Exec’s door to ask why we can’t sell more than 9,600 season tickets... https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16908899.tony-mowbray-feels-a-warmth-from-fans-to-rovers-players/?ref=mac
