European Champions League 2020/21
gumboots replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Oddly enough, my son pointed out to me that I saw Orsic, the Dynamo Zagreb scorer, play for Ulsan in the Asian Champions League in 2018 -
Most, if not all, of us on here think that. Even on Twitter and Facebook the tide has turned or is turning but there's only one person whose opinion counts and she either doesn't know, doesn't care or thinks 'Stuff you, peasants. I like him.'

I didn't suggest Shearer wouldn't have scored goals, just that he got more than he would otherwise have done if teams weren't set up to help him..
-
Mowbray's fault as much as anything. Find him a manager who will play to his strengths and he'll score goals. All decent teams set up to their striker's strengths. Remember Sinama-Pongolle saying he was set up to help Bellamy score. Would Shearer have scored the goals he did here without the wingers and Sutton to provide service. You have to get the right kind of service to strikers then they do their job. Our players don't help Armstrong in that there isn't a set way they play to always provide him with the chances

Don't get your hopes up.

I just got a notification about a Rich Sharpe tweet. Its the hope that kills you

Mowbrays Successor

Oh id agree but since there is no sign whatsoever that anyone who has any authority is even thinking of sacking Mowbray, we, as fans, can line up/suggest whoever we want. There has to be some kind of will to get rid of him before we can expect anyone to be looking for a replacement. -

Just because German coaches are flavour of the month. Looking around, most of them have fit in well over here because they usually have a great command of English to start with. Makes communicating much easier. We have to get rid of Mowbray first before we can get a new coach in here -
Far too late. New guy, whoever he or she may be, would need time to sort priorities and find players. Needs to be now
-
The ref was awful. Having said that, Mowbrays team did not have a clue tonight. He has to go.
-
Then they need to give fans something to get excited about. That doesn't have to be megastars in the PL. It needs to be a club that is forward thinking, ambitious, well-run with a good management team getting the best from the players and inspiring them to want to do better as a team. Regardless of what League you are in, you can expect that.
-
The problem is, fans are losing interest and dropping away at an alarming rate. The club needs its fans but has lost so much goodwill over Venkys tenure that its hard to envisage many turning up. The club can't just expect fans to walk back in.

I actually messaged an ex colleague to ask if his FB account had been hacked when I saw him defending Mowbray and his selection and tactics. This was a guy who played and coached and used to be damning in his criticisms after every loss.

Mowbrays Successor

You can come to coach in England if you live elsewhere in the UK. If you come from outside the UK you may need a work permit. Hence here its being UK based that counts -
Not this time in my opinion, because, contrary to what he says, I see players not enjoying their football, confused about just about everything and no leader on or off the pitch to sort it out
-
Yes it has but its affected as you say, other teams as much as us, yet we are the team that look, whenever I watch them (which hasn't been very often I will admit) very lethargic and lacking in that spark you need to win games
-
You don't say!

I dont know what we DO need, but what we don't need is Mowbray and his coaching team. -

Think I heard yesterday that he's unhappy that they haven't talked about what happens next yet -
We all know he needs replacing but how do we make it happen? There is nobody listening to fans' concerns, not even our fellow fans in some cases. There will very soon be no reason to open Ewood as nobody will want to attend, except the odd few who go because they always have and haven't found anything to replace the meeting with their mates at the footie
-
But Mowbray is still here!
-
If last night was an improvement, I'm glad I didnt watch the preceding games
-
In terms of actually attending matches on a regular basis, I'd had it when Coyle was appointed. I've been a couple of times since, but I used to be hard-core, every home game, most away games, youth teams, the lot. I try to keep interested and involved but if it gets any worse my already tenuous connection to the club will be pretty much broken.
-
Its today or not for a while as the cricket starts again tomorrow
-
We all fear who Venkys might appoint but then we all fear what happens if Mowbray stays too. Devil and the deep, blue sea. But they might accidentally find us someone who can somehow keep us up. Its the hope that kills you
