  1. Allardyce robbed the fans throughout his time at Ewood by refusing to deal with agents and players that wouldn't feather his nest. We could have seen much better players and much better football had he been open to signing anyone from anyone. He was doing what everyone criticizes Venkys for, dealing with one/two agents and that pool of players, just because we sat mid table Premiership doesn't alter that fact. His football was awful, the man himself was a complete arsehole, who eventually ruined his reputation and should never work in football again. Now back to JDT, ignoring the utter shambles of a recruitment process, I must admit to feeling more optimistic by the day, the messages coming out of Ewood are positive and thats something we've not been able to say to often over the past 11yrs. 290 miles to Dundee, thinking about it.......
  2. https://www.jororestaurant.co.uk/ I was fortunate enough to dine at Joro last night in Sheffield, superb food, no wonder the waiting list is over 2 months right now. Fine dining but in a relaxed atmosphere, staff very knowledgably and the food was stunning. In the same building, this place, the cider hole and what a character that runs the place, chap from Brooklyn. http://istheciderholeopen.com https://www.thestar.co.uk/lifestyle/food-and-drink/sheffields-first-ever-cider-centric-bar-the-cider-hole-to-open-in-shalesmoor-next-week-3374538 If you in the area its worth a visit for the cider bar alone, the building also has several other bars to choose from and if you plan ahead visit Joro, you won't be disappointed.
  3. Yes, feelings still run deep in those mining communities Tony, they're still divided and its been 40yrs since the miners strike. I know someone right now looking to move into those areas, mining villages and they've been warned by work colleagues it takes time to be accepted, they're not welcoming at first, be prepared!
  4. Is anyone watching ‘Sherwood’ On BBC? Murder, mining communities, unions, corruption, based on true events. 2 episodes in, good so far.
  5. I know this is a cricket topic, but as we have @gumboots posting in here. Did you get to Sale Sharks? Not a bad season on the whole I felt.
  6. Good to see you @gumboots hope all is well with you and the family.
  7. Like in the 1st innings you mean when NZ posted over 500? The first test was low scoring due to the pitch and conditions, the ball was swinging round corners for both side, no batting line-up in the world could have scored 500 on that in first innings, this test was high scoring for the same reason, pitch and conditions. The England batting has been woeful for far to long and hasn't been fixed over night, but the way in which we went about winning this game should give us all hope moving forward, a superb advert for test match cricket.
  8. Cutting to the chase, clubs that are successful in gaining promotion from Championship to premiership have health transfer budgets and health wage structures. From JDT to be a success here he needs significant funds, otherwise he will fail. Over to you billionaire owners.
  9. The new era has begun, that was an outstanding test match, could be one of the best I've ever seen. To give up over 500 in the first innings and still win is unheard of. Stunning and those fans today watched it for free.
  10. Make that 105 to win - Bairstow is smashing them into the stands, tremendous stuff.
  11. England still attacking here, need 140 to win. If they lose another wicket I think they'll shut up shop. Come on England.
  12. The club have found my email address: NEWS TICKETS SHOP VIDEO h Dear Gav, Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of Jon Dahl Tomasson as our new Head Coach on a contract through to June 2025. After an exhaustive selection process over recent weeks, which included first and second stage interviews with the shortlisted candidates, Jon became the club’s preferred choice and arrives at Rovers having led Swedish side Malmo FF to back-to-back league titles. The 45-year-old will be joined at Ewood Park by new assistant coach Remy Reijnierse and performance director Ben Rosen, who will work closely with coaches David Lowe, Damien Johnson and Ben Benson. In an illustrious playing career, the former Denmark international represented Heerenveen, Newcastle United, Feyenoord, AC Milan, VfB Stuttgart and Villarreal, and scored a record 52 goals in 112 caps for his country. After moving into coaching upon retiring in 2011, he had brief spells as head coach of Dutch clubs Excelsior and Roda JC, before taking up assistant manager roles with Vitesse Arnhem and the Denmark national team. Jon was appointed manager of Malmo FF in January 2020 and during a two-year period in charge, he led the Swedish club to successive Allsvenskan league titles, as well as to the group stages of the Champions League. Jon Dahl Tomasson said: “I'm really proud and excited to be taking over as Head Coach of Blackburn Rovers – a club with a lot of tradition and also great ambition." “We have a young team here, and also a great Academy, and the Owners have a clear vision, which is to develop players and become a sustainable Premier League club over time, so I’m really happy to be involved in this exciting new chapter for the club." Jon and Remy will officially take up their new roles with the club over the coming days, once international clearance and their UK work permit applications have been approved. Please note 22-23 Season Tickets remain on sale, click HERE for more info. Don't miss a moment!
  13. Well they're all out in the first hour more or less, leaving us 299 to win, they got away from us sadly. We are about to see if Brendon McCullums "win and not draw" philosophy comes into play.
  14. First hour here is crucial, polish of the last 3 NZ wickets and the run chase is on. Come on England.
  15. Welcome to the new manager JDT and as with all managers that take over the reigns (Coyle aside) he'll have my full support. The appointment has all the hallmarks of Venkys reign here, shambolic, but we got it over the line eventually. I'm now waiting for Waggotts interview where he tells us all JDT was "always our number one target" 😀 Be interesting to see who he brings in, the side is lacking in numbers and quality in some areas, but will Venkys provide him with funds to rebuild or is it academy players only and loans as Mowbray was hamstrung by over the past few years? Time will tell.
  16. We have Sheff Wednesday season ticket holders and close friends in the family, you can imagine…… I don’t remember them being as gutted then, as they were when we knocked them out of the Semi-final for the league cup in 2002. Then again who can forget both Wednesday and United knocking us out of both cups in 93’ish? Waddle and Warhurst tore us a part at Ewood, penalty shootout at Bramal Lane…..
  17. @Armchair supporter supremo Just finished Tv version of The Staircase and when you talked about ‘added drama’ I thought you’d called it right. It has a section that never made the documentary, unbelievable, or is it? Another twist, no spoilers, but worth the effort.
  18. It’s a pity he missed the next post really…. “We’ll go to games of course, but to buy season tickets for us, shows support for Waggott and support for the owners. No Nay Never” 😀
  19. I heard Nassar speaking when McCullum was appointed and he said we'd not be playing from draws, we're playing to win. I guess Stokes was staying true to that philosophy, we needed quick runs to win this game, hopefully we'll get enough to draw it now.
  20. All joking aside, the really sad thing is Rev, Venkys as we all know are billionaires, they could employ the very best manager out there willing to come to the club, yet they continue to operate with little or no ambition, gambling with the clubs future with every passing season. Go and get Dyche, thats what Jack would have done, if he says no find more candidates at that level, simple really If you have the clubs best interests at heart.
  21. Fingers crossed he is good Tormund, I’m sure we all wish him well should he sign. The whole process has been a shambles, many of us predicted it, this is more amateur hour courtesy of our wonderful owners and the dross they employ. We’ll go to games of course, but to buy season tickets for us, shows support for Waggott and support for the owners. No Nay Never.
  22. If he's announced the season ticket money will remain in the bank. Yes I'll support the guy, thats what we do, but he's not of the calibre needed to get this club into the Premiership, he's the cheapest option willing to tow the party line. Venkys out.
  23. Some superb test match cricket over the past few days, quality batting on both sides, Pope showing the quality he was picked for. Looks like draw unless the runs can come quickly for England right now. Always best to keep the powder dry I'd say. Come on England.
