I know its Wolfsburg's U21s, but I just can't get my head around how anyone can watch that and only give him 8 minutes. If that was a random Rovers U21 player we would find a way to give him minutes.

I thought this, but I was watching some highlights on the Rovers twitter of the last time we played Rotherham (I think) and Dack looked exactly the same then. He gave up when he lost the ball, he made a token attempt to press and didn't make any runs in behind. He's never chased down balls, he's never covered lots of ground in a game, he's never been especially quick. What he did then and still does now is be capable of playing a killer ball and have the unteachable ability of being in the right place at the right time.

I'm putting it down to this as well. It's a tried and tested technique when you're coming in and changing big things, get rid of the previous regime.

If Dack doesn’t suit the system then by default, neither does Szmodics. I understand the point you’re trying to make, but Dack offers things to the team that Szmodics doesn’t just as much as the other way.

His missus’ Twitter likes are essentially a barrage of support for Dack and fans questioning the manager and the club. This situation needs resolving as a priority. It’s dreadful for all involved. Let’s not forget Dack is best mates with Brereton.

For all the talk of: ”Brereton should sign a new deal to show some loyalty to the club after we spent 7M on him and he was rubbish for 3 years” We should be doing a better job at standing by Dack. He was our best player for 4 or 5 years. He deserves the chance to prove on the pitch he can or can’t do what is being asked of him.

Here’s what I don’t understand. We’ve subbed Brittain, Dolan and Gallagher on now. That means if we want to put Dack on, we can only really sub on BBD off, who’s our biggest threat.

He is for me. We weren’t ever going up under Mowbray. He just wasn’t capable of progressing us any further. We needed something different and there’s only two options: 1) someone to take what Mowbray had and push us on to the next level 2) change the entire mindset of the club to push us on to the next level. As far as I can see they couldn’t find someone to do route 1 and thought JDT could do route 2!

They look much more up for it. I’d be going 3-5-2 for 15 minutes to get a better hold of the game. Get Szmodics into central midfield and tell Hirst and Brereton to play as a front two.
