    I love Ben but he MUST be sold this window. His contract is running out and whilst his form last year was brilliant we just cannot risk it dropping off.

    Whether we could have replaced him in January is pointless and a distraction. We where lucky that Bournemouth offered 3M and should have absolutely taken it… but it shouldn’t have taken that long. If a player won’t sign an extension when they have 18 months left they MUST be sold in the first possible window. This is the basics, this is where the problem started.

    People might not believe this and that’s fine, but trust me, Darragh asked for ‘Ayala money’ and as captain of the club, a mainstay in the team and an international player he felt he deserved it. He didn’t get offered anything like that. That combined with the uncertainty of a new manager who may or may not end up liking him vs. a manager that’s tried to sign him twice before meant it was an easy choice.

    Just been chatting to one of the players, they’re all super impressed with JDT and are being put through their paces big time with fitness and high intensity pressing being prioritised so far in pre season. Expect all the young players that we’ve heard so much about to be given a shout, Phillips, Batty and Wharton all picked out as the best of the bunch. Sounded genuinely excited.

    I thought HMRC banned clubs from giving free STs to staff as its considered a benefit in kind? Certainly Rovers have now had to stop, so I see no reason why PNE or other would be allowed.
