I was thinking more of an Ashley Barnes type of player. I hate him personally, but he kept both our centre backs in a permanent state of anxiety when we played Burnley. Both were occupied trying to keep him at bay (unsuccessfully) and it allowed opportunities for others.

We need a centre forward who can rough up opposition centre and create opportunities for the likes of Dack etc. Our big forwards are total pusses and are not up to the task required.

When are the cavalry going to turn up? we can’t go on performing this poorly and not start slipping down the league ala TM. Our squad is too thin with little class, even TK has been poor lately. There has been no mention of the midfield player we desperately need more than any other position imho.

Morton failing to get a tackle in again!!

I think that Waggot has to take huge blame regarding this team and it’s performances. He took about 10 times longer than any other ceo to appoint a manager and would still be deciding if Broughton hadn’t come in to force his hand. Absolute amateur hour. The consequence of such dilly dallying was that there was insufficient time to assess the squad and decide who to bring in, resulting in very poor decisions. He also allowed the recruitment team to be depleted and not replaced quickly enough so that the new management team were left ill prepared to make the informed recruitment decisions needed. JDT meanwhile refuses to acknowledge that his style of play does not suit the scant squad at his disposal. By now he should be up to speed as the requirements needed to be successful in the EFL, but apparently not. Unfortunately I can only see any recruitment in this window as exasperating the situation. He needs to wise up, and quickly otherwise we will go into a TM style death spiral very soon. It will be deja vu again.

We effectively play 4-2-4 and then find it surprising when we are over run in midfield where there is only one player( Garrett) who can tackle. Formation and selection totally wrong. When is JDT going to learn?!!! give me strength.

If it’s a case of spending money then I would rather it was used for Hugo Vetlsen, if it’s a possibility, rather than on Cantwell. I think once a bad attitude has set in or the mojo has been lost it very rarely comes back. Eg Dele Ali.

Morton is useless at tackling. Players just stroll past him. We need a player with bite in the midfield but sadly that’s not Travis.

We really struggled when TM tried playing a possession based game. Only when we mixed it up and played more direct, as we did last year, did we do better. We don’t have the players for it. We are just playing ourselves into trouble a lot. Pep Guardiola has a lot to answer for.
