  1. Well done to had.e.nuff who scored 32/36 and shares top spot on the leaderboard with Oldjamfan.
  2. You both got the youngest player wrong but the others were different mistakes!
  3. Well done to Renrag who scored 30/36 but he’s been replaced by Oldjamfan at the top of the Leaderboard with 32/36. Can anyone beat that?
  4. Yes to be clear they are both FA Cup semis. The years were 2005 and 2007. We’ve been in the Charity Shield 4 times and we have met the same team twice.
  5. Probably like many of us at the moment I’ve been doing a fair bit of reading. I’ve got a pretty good collection of Rovers books and I’ve rediscovered some long forgotten facts about our great club! So I’ve compiled a quiz of 20 questions about the Rovers which I would like to share. If you, like me, love quizzing then I hope it might help provide a much needed distraction and some enjoyment in these difficult days There are 20 questions but the total score is 36. If you want to PM me your answers then I’m more than happy to give you your score! Q1. Rovers didn’t have one of these for the first 46 years but have had one every year since then, What is it? Q2. Which player was sold to become our record transfer fee received? Q3. In the 1960’s Rovers were asked to represent England in an international competition. Where was it held? Q4. Which player has made the most appearances for the club? Q5. Which player has scored the most goals in a Rovers shirt? Q6. Rovers have been beaten twice by the same team in our Charity Shield history. Who was it? Q7. In which Blackburn street was Jack Walker born? Q8. In our great Prem Title season which was the only team to do the double over us? Q9. Besides Ewood, Rovers have played at 4 other venues across town. Can you name them? Q10. Our FA Cup tie against Charlton in 1947 at the Valley was unique for what reason? Q11. Who were Rovers first shirt sponsors? Q12. Who was our first £1m player signing? Q13. During Roy Hodgson’s reign as manager we had 3 goalkeepers whose surname began with the letter F. Who were they? Q14. Which manager signed Matt Jansen and from which club? Q15. Jorge Gonzalez Dias played for us in which Cup Final? Q16. Dino Baggio made his Rovers debut at which current League Two ground? Q17. Who were Tony Mowbray’s first opponents as Rovers manager? Q18. Mark Hughes took us to 2 semifinals during his time as manager. Who beat us on each occasion? Q19. Who are the youngest and oldest players to play for Rovers since WW2? Q20. Can you name the 9 managers who have served under the Venkys? Well done for getting this far! As I said if you want to PM me with your answers I’m happy to give you your score. I’ve got plenty of time on my hands!
  6. Thanks bro. I’ve sent an email to our friends at the EFL with my suggestion but I doubt it will happen as it doesn’t sit well with the Premier League’s possible timescale.
  7. That is my time scale also to cope with play offs etc. I wonder if the EFL might consider for the 2020-21 the return of the old North/South Divisions from the past? 12 teams in each Division would only necessitate 22 matches which could be fulfilled before the end of May. The top team in each Division gets automatic promotion with the second and third placed teams involved in a play off for the third spot. This is a very difficult situation where clubs futures are very much at stake. We need some careful decision making.
  8. A friend of mine has just messaged to say that this weekend is “what Bury fans feel like every week”. It’s so sad. I fear that some clubs will not pull through this crisis. Wayne Rooney in the Times today( never thought I’d write that) has suggested the Premier League donate £1million to every club in League One and Two.
  9. Yes a great game and now top! What a signing Archibald was. 22 games unbeaten with Leeds away next.
  10. You may not get back DeeCee! Cornwall will take the chance to self isolate!
  11. Has anyone got any good ideas as to how we can get our Rovers fix during this current crisis? Maybe watching You Tube clips of matches? Maybe some Rovers related quiz questions? Weekends are going to be tough. Any suggestions gratefully received!
  12. I wonder if the Pools Panel will be sitting to decide the results of postponed matches? They always sat during the bad winters when we had plenty of games off. The legal ramifications would be huge!
  13. USABlue, if you’re going to character assassinate the manager then at least have the decency to spell his name correctly. You have made several assertions or “beliefs” as you call them in your post. You believe Mowbray does not want promotion but what is the evidence for this? You like me have heard his interviews on ifollow over the last couple of years and it is clear that that is his aim. He wants to develop the club because he’s passionate about it. You claim he doesn’t want promotion because he will have to work harder? And that he’s fooling the Venky’s into thinking all is going smoothly? You state that he’s on a “comfortable ride” and a “cushy gig!” Are you serious? To operate at this level of football management where every decision, comment, team selection, transfer decision is open to public scrutiny and public abuse like never before suggests a far from a cushy number. You then produce a comment about effort and commitment or lack off presumably directed at the players or is it the staff and management? Rovers players in my lifetime have often come in for criticism for this often on the back of a hugely disappointing performance even in your dark days of the Third Division. I know we are all very frustrated and annoyed at the Derby result but let’s not start making ill considered judgements on a person’s character.
  14. Man City is Wright Phillips parent club. So can he play for us in the semi?
  15. What a great goal from Wright Phillips 2-0. A great celebration to match as well!
  16. What a fabulous first half. Great goal from Byrne. Some great passing football from the lads.
  17. I’m watching it live on You tube. Search for FA cup Youth.
  18. I was there in April 1981 for a midweek game, one of the infamous triple 0-0 draws which ultimately cost us promotion under Kendall, and the crowd was 13,000! 3 matches later we played them at Ewood in front of 10,000 when we were still in the running for promotion so not a great turnout; probably less than we took to Bury for our promotion party the season before. Football especially Premiership has been marketed so well since then that’s it’s difficult to compare crowds in different eras.
  19. You’re quite right. I’ve just seen it on their website. Red button from 2.55. Forget the Six Nations!
  20. Never mind those pictures what about the Crossword! Some difficult questions there! Well done on this issue though; a fabulous read. Great addition to my collection of Rovers literature!
  21. https://www-deepdaledigest-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.deepdaledigest.com/news/adam-armstrong-reportedly-valued-at-eight-figure-fee-18-months-since-snubbing-preston/amp/# Further rumours but interesting.
  22. Great article. I never doubted for one minute that he would be a great signing. Experience is such an important factor in professional sport and he seems to be a real help and mentor to a lot of our younger players. He also rates our manager and recognises his contribution to his continuing Rovers career by managing his fitness schedule. My only regret is his one-year contract which I would love him to extend if agreement could be reached.
  23. And yet not a few weeks ago he was a desperate loan signing, worse than Raya! The lad has worked well with our equally much maligned goalkeeping coach. However I feel criticism of him is never too far away.
