  1. I have to ask how do you know this is true or are you spreading fake news?
  2. But RV is always right on football matters as he said himself. So I now know Tim Farron is not a Rovers fan. Whos next Wayne Hemingway?
  3. A big thank you to you two guys for the great work you've done over the years. This site has been a brilliant resource for all Rovers fans home and abroad. Good luck and best wishes to the new management team.
  4. I broadly agree with Theno.A 2 minute silence is reserved for the victims of war. There should be a mark of respect for the life of John and his family. Whether that is a minute`s applause,a minute`s silence, a wreath laying or the wearing of black armbands is up to the club and the family. I have read Stuart`s post also and he appears to be an eye witness. It was a tragic accident which makes it more distressing. If it is alcohol related then I for one would gladly see a ban on sales within the stadium but sadly it is a source of revenue for clubs and there is nothing to stop alcohol being smuggled in anyway. What with the incident at the last match when some young man was bottled on a coach shows that the club will have to investigate these incidents very thoroughly.
  5. Have to cofess that I have not bothered watching any European football this week. Am I losing interest in life as we know it? I am bored watching the same old teams earning ridiculous amounts of money and watching the gap getting ever wider between the haves and have nots. I dont care what happens. I dont like the anthem; the silly mastercard advert etc. Everyone knows who will go through to the next stage so why bother with it.
  6. Hughesy should be very careful going there into a very unstable setup. I wouldnt trust that owner as far as I could throw him. Hughesy has always had a great relationship with the senior management at Ewood as indeed have most recent Rovers managers. This guy is good at making promises but has he delivered? Having sacked a famous international manager for meeting his set targets then I would be wary of what this boss really wants. Please Mark think long and hard about this move. I will be sorry to see you go but the club lives on and another chapter is about to be written with our next appointment.
  7. I have great respect for Hughesy but £6m for the legoland house is ridiculous. What on earth possessed you Sparky to live there! I used to live in Fenis cowles which was the area for the Rovers players and it looked better than that. Agree with above come and live in the Ribble Valley where Roque lives I believe - a man of taste!
  8. Certain journos on Sky this morning have intimated that Jose has signed a pre-contract deal with ACMilan and that all the FA job has been smoke and mirrors.
  9. Thanks, Kimberley I didnt see it until you pointed it out.
  10. It seems you cant keep Mr.Savage out of the news. In todays Times there is an article about an incident on Rovers flight back from the match in Finland against Mypa when Savage who has a fear (apparently) of flying was invited up to the flight deck by the captain in order to calm his nerves. For this act of kindness the said captain has been sacked by his company for abusing security on board. Robbie has vowed to do "all in his power" to get the pilot reinstated.
  11. I wonder if one reason for the general decline in some clubs attendances is the death of the Saturday 3pm. kickoff? On the 3rd of October there will be only ONE game in the Premiership kicking off at 3pm; Jeff Stelling and his gang will have to do a bit of work that day to keep interest up.Seven games will be played on the Sunday including our game v. Brum.
  12. Deja Vu time. The Times reported this morning that Benni has a clause in his contract for the end of next season(2008) that he can go for £6m to a top four club or £5m to anyone else!! It says that they will have to pay £10m this summer as he could be poached. Hughesy is right to say that there is no clause this summer but wait till the end of next season. Perhaps now get out clauses are a fact pf life for clubs like ours.
  13. I`ve heard from a source who works at Parcel Force who deliver to the Rovers Training Camp that poor Dunny has sustained a back injury in training. I cant confirm this but if it is true it`s a blow for us. Could explain why he hasnt figured yet.
  14. Neill has an interview in the Times this morning headed "Why I snubbed Liverpool". He says he has agreed a move to West Ham on £60,000 perweek twice what Liverpool were offering. The fee is £1.5m. He quotes " It wasnt about money. That didnt come into it.It was about being wanted.West Ham were knocking down the door to get me whereas Liverpool made it a take-it-or-leave it offer and didnt come in for me until 15 days after the window opened" On relegation he said"It`s a calculated gamble. It wont be a glamorous 3 months but once WE secure safety people wont question my motives any more.I believe I will have the last laugh.People will be talking about West Ham in a very different way.....West Ham have a shopping list pf players which almost blew me away. It took me all of 2 minutes to be convinced when Mr Magnusson told me of his plans for the club" However it does say then that Hughesy will not allow him to go until a replacement is found so maybe Lucas has said too much!
  15. It showed to me tonight that the people saying give Peter a chance over MGP are living in cuckoo land. Peter had a chance tonight to show what he could do but was awful along with our other reserves. Nolan got better as the game progressed but it was scary stuff.Nancy were the better team but were powder puff in front of goal.Hope Toddy is OK for Saturday.
  16. I remember the "home" end was behind the Darwen End goal and the BBE was for away fans. Liverpool used to fill it when they came. At half-time we could walk round via the Riverside to the Blackburn End until they built the wall at the corner. However I have to say that the new ground is great when full( not seen very often I know).
  17. When I saw it in real time my feeling was a red. The speedy Martins was clearly away with only the goalie in front of him. It has to be a goal scoring opportunity surely. Henchoz has lost what pace he had and the opposition know to get him isolated one on one. I think other incidents like yesterday will reoccur. On the point of the fans behaviour I sit in the Riverside and there is a nucleus of about 3 or 4 idiots who run up to the wall at every opportunity to rebuke the linesman. I too thought he was wrong but I have to admit that he was spot on with his decision on the first goal. I am prepared to hold my hand up, will the idiots? The officials have a difficult job and more often than not they get it right. I am sure it would help reduce the tension inside a ground if we were allowed to see contentious decisions on the big screen at halftime or whenever but I dont think the clubs are allowed to do it yet.
  18. First goal was not offside as many in the Riverside thought. Second goal was also Ok even though Hughesy didnt like it. Henchoz`s red was debatable; could have been a yellow but ref was correct in terms of the laws. Derbyshire was OK at best ; looked lightweight but maybe worth a place on Wed.Nonda was awful and has lost interest.Mcarthy is a class player who needs some service but I agree is offside too often.
  19. December 3rd 2005 we lost 2-0 to Everton. I was talking to my daughter about that game as she came with her boss who is an Evertonian. I was watching the Sunday game which was Everton at home to West Ham. It just had to be Everton in the draw!.
  20. I dont know if this is genuine or not but there was a comment round us in the Riverside that the sponsors Bet360 who have links in Norway insist that MGP plays in every game bar serious injury. I must say I like gamst as he offers so many options but even I can see that he is not playing with any confidence. He was very poor in the first half but was much better in the second no doubt having had an earbashing from Hughesy. Has anyone else heard of this connection with our sponsors? If he does have damaged ribs then it does seem odd that he is playing .
  21. Alan Shearer doesnt look too happy next to him, does he??!
  22. Sadly out of our league. his dad wanted him to go to Arsenal before Chelsea so they could be strong favourites.Citry are also interested and they have Richards as a possible bargaining tool.
