  1. Havent I seen you on the roundabout on Hough Lane working on the Leyland clock??
  2. Neither to I think he is injured.he was playing the holding role as Robbie bombs everywhere and bentley was given an attacking role. His natural game is to attack but Hughesy no doubt asked him to protect the back line.
  3. I think Rennie has got off very lightly on here so far but for me he ruins every game he refs for his constant stopping pf play and failing to play advantage as we saw in the second half when Rovers had a great attack on the right and he blew up.The penalty decision seemed dubious and only adds to players frustration. The game was at best average but I looked the look of the front 2. Emerton did well but he is not strong defensively and would not replace Neill in my team.Pedersen is worth his place as he is capable of creating or scoring goals and you dont leave a player like that out of your side. How Savage can get stick on here is amazing. He is the heartbeat of the side and breaks up so many opposition moves with his endeavour. The gate was worrying but I believe it was about the same as last year?Maybe holidays kept a few away.
  4. Ianrally, Couldnt agree more. His diction is awful and he mumbles too. His spell in Glasgow has been too much for him.It was great to see Shane Warne in the studio against Brazil; he was really up for it. Whereas Freddie Flintoff gets criticised for watching the Paraguay game. BTW was it really our Brett playing yesterday? What a performance! He and Lucas were tremendous.
  5. When Souness left I posted a message that said Rovers were no longer to be thought of as a big club. I now humbly apologise to Hughesy and everybody on here for that comment. It has been a wonderful effort by all concerned. It was great to see yesterday that we were so superior to big club City even without many first team regulars. City were truly awful. The streaker was on the Riverside and was part of a group dressed as Village People. At half time they had a photo taken with 2 policemen but minus the streaker. If anyone else is going streak then do it on a warm day!!
  6. Does anyone else agree that our recent hiccup is in part due to the injury to Tugay? We have missed him a great deal.
  7. I would think Bellamy`s first goal against Portsmouth is going to be a strong contender for the goal of the season on MOTD.
  8. Have I missed the answer to which rover scored for Rovers,Spurs,Rangers and Hearts??
  9. My aim is to finish in the top 6 and a UEFA spot. We are not yet good enough for the CL. It will still be a fantastic achievement considering our resources. In my opinion there is too much criticism of Rovers players from our own fans. To get a point today was satisfying.
  10. Calm down, calm down! I thought Bellamy was not 100% fit last night but still his mere presence has an effect on the opposition. I would not pick him out as having a poor game as he had some great touches and runs. I cant believe some of the comments from posters. Rovers dominated the first half and only in the second half did Wigan defend like they normally do after they had taken off the Austrian before he was sent off. Only a few people have referred to the linesman who clearly flagged for offside just before their goal; he was not strong enough to influence Dowd. It was a gritty point earned. Maybe Hughesey this morning might reflect that he got his selection wrong; I would play Emerton and Pongolle against Pompey. PS As I write this Brum 1-0 up against Bolton. There will be more twists and turns yet. Keep the faith.
  11. Did my predictions this morning and I have Rovers finishing with 62 points in 7th; Bolton and Spurs on 65 with Arsenal 4th with 67points. Their run in especially at home is reasonable. I have us only winning 2 more games Wigan and City with 3 away draws and a point against Liverpool. Am I too pessimistic?
  12. Excellent shout, Den,about Drogba. Deliberate handball is a bookable offence. He should have been booked. Perhaps the furore about the disallowed goal put it out of his mind.
  13. I must be the only person who thought that Robbie deliberately put his hand out to stop the ball!! It was subtle but I am wondering if he knew that a red card would bring less retribution than a yellow?? As for the game, Bellamy has become a hero in a short space of time and the reaction after the third goal was tremendous not just from from the crowd but his teammates too. He was very emotional and with wearing a black arm band would suggest a personal loss which his goals helped him to get over. I started a topic at the beginning of the 2005 season about possible problems with the turnstile system. No problem until yesterday. The stewards were asked about a contingency plan to which they replied that they didnt have one! old men were told to climb over the turnstiles and only after some heated exchanges were the fans allowed in via the disabled gate at the side of the Riverside and Blackburn Ends. No way could an accurate assessment of the crowd be made and since their cards were not swiped at the turnstile are now entitled, I believe, to free admission at the next Category B game. Many people are wondering where the fans have gone. It is still difficult to get a ticket if you have not got a history of going to a game. The casual spectator is possibly a thing of the past.
  14. Rovers won because we had a better goalkeeper and better forwards. They had the more physical midfield. They were more dominant than we were at Spurs but if you dont take your chances then you will not win.
  15. I do think the talk of Champions League is a bit OTT but today thought the lads were magnificent. I try to be more dispassionate when Rovers are on TV away because I never think we will win and so I dont get too upset when it happens but if any away side next week in the Champions Cup plays as well as we did today then good luck to them. The inter passing of Savage(my MOM), Reid and Neill(the best right back in the Prem by a mile) was of the highest order and poor Spurs were outplayed and outfought by a class act. Gray used the word "staggering" to describe the improvement since Bolton and the club have done a great PR job with this performance. Perhaps a trickle of fans can be enticed back for the Villa game.
  16. To compare Koumas to Tugay is totally laughable. Rovers played better at Everton when he came on as Tugs is still able to see and play an incisive pass when the situation demands it. What amazed me last night was his workrate and closing down the opposition. The club clearly are trying to persuade him to stay for one more season. Obviously time will catch up but if he can help to groom his successor in the next 12 months I will be happy. What players can fill his position? Dunny is the obvious choice but whether he can hack it now is open to question. I do not envy the club in their search because Tugay is a one-off. If Robson doesnt fancy Koumas and Hughesy knows him well from his Wales days then I dont saee that he is the answer.
  17. Tugay was MOM by a country mile. 1864 what are you on?? he worked as hard as I have ever seen him tonight. Pedersen not fit; Reid out of position otherwise a comfortable win.
  18. I expect Bellamy to play against Arsenal as he needs to be fully fit;cant see him being ready for WBA or even Everton.
  19. 2 classic shouts from the riverside: On Kuqi "Stop giving him the ball" and on Van Nistelrooy`s constant diving in the box "He`s tripping over his own teeth". A game to tell the grandchildren about. I`ve had so many disappointments in games with Utd that we were owed some . Thank goodness for a brave linesman who saw the handball and then having to run the line past fergie! Dowd was waving playon. Ronaldo`s airshot and the Saha goal were poor decisions. Kuqi can at least challenge for headers but is hopeless on the ground. Emerton had a great secondhalf and with Bellamy and Pongolle up front we will have pace to burn throughout the side. My only concern long term is that the powers that be at OT will no doubt be monitoring Hughesy`s progress.
  20. Dont forget that Hughesy brought Kuqi to the club so if he is the worst striker then are you saying our manager is a poor judge of talent. Souness saw him for 30 minutes and then showed him the door. We do need a new forward and we have 6 days and counting. Otherwise I watched the game and was pleased with our overall game plan except in the opposing box.
  21. At least he won goal of the month for December! Leave him be.
  22. Couldnt give 2 monkeys about Liverpool`s score. My observation about today`s game is how superior Rovers looked in every department and only playing in second gear for most of the match. I think we underestimate the skill levels of our own players when you see a side from a lower division. QPR were dreadfully poor and God help us if we ever lose our Prem status if that is the standard of the Championship. Well done to Sergio Peter who had a great debut and it was nice to see the whole team congratulate him on his second assist. Tugay was playing exhibition football and twice lost possession in a dangerous area but you cannot be too critical of this magician. Well done Bellers on 2 goals and I`ve yet to see him fall out with his teammates and he plays with a smile on his face now. Perhaps Hughesy has tamed the beast.
  23. It was reported in the Mail that Bellers has broken down again in training with the hamstring hence his non-appearance tonight.
  24. interesting points made about the draw- never considered the possibility of a fix before but the numbers came out 2-Wigan v. 3-Arsenal then 4-Rovers v. 1-Manu. No mention was made before the draw of the team numbers but this sequence seems very odd. You conspiracy theorists may be right!
  25. Totally support you there. Dunny would be a perfect replacement for Tugay. I`m sure he would love to come back.
