  1. I actually quite enjoyed their commentary team and they were reasonably complementary to the Rovers. So frustrating a game; didn’t deserve to lose. Disappointed with Bell as he didn’t offer anything today. Encouraged by the subs who took the game to them just like Leicester last week. Not too disheartened but definitely frustrated.
  2. I do understand what you’re saying and in an ideal world “a squad ready and raring to go” would be great but the problem for the last few years is that footballers are very much guided by their agents and can afford to bide their time until the best deal appears. It must be very frustrating for club managers to get their preferred targets in this financial climate. We’re not halfway through this window and whilst appreciating the start of the season is 9 days away there is still time for deals to be struck. The window normally shuts after the season has started anyway. Last season Stoke were lauded on here because they’d made a lot of preseason signings but they struggled. It’s about getting the right targets in and I’m pretty sure Mowbray knows the personnel he would like but can he get them? I’m consoling myself with the old adage that the season is a marathon and not a sprint.
  3. This window lasts until October 5th and then for EFL clubs there is an extension till the 16th of October so I’m not concerned yet. Still plenty of time for deals to go through.
  4. I do agree with you that there is an ebb and flow of a game played over 90 minutes. Managers who are losing do try to exploit weaknesses in the opposition to get back in the game. My point to you is that at the end of the game on Saturday the opposition manager ultimately failed to do this and lost the match to a manager who exploited their weaknesses more effectively. I have witnessed so many defeats in Cup competitions at Ewood by so called inferior opposition over the years that I am delighted that we beat Doncaster
  5. Interestingly he beat the opposition boss 3-2 on the pitch!
  6. I thought I read somewhere recently that he was signing for Portsmouth but then came news of the salary cap in League One. Perhaps he was hoping Rovers might help out with wages? He’s obviously angry at the club.
  7. Funny how your memory plays tricks on you. I can’t quite believe how bad we looked so far in that 90-91 season losing so many matches. It is amazing what happened 12 months on!
  8. I don’t think there are any stand out teams this season plus our impressive line up of youngsters plus my usual optimism at the start of any season! ? Perhaps I’m just kidding myself but it’s always better to be positive!
  9. Feeling quietly confident for this season. Does anyone have any good odds on us reaching the playoffs? I’ve seen 7/2 on my usual site which aren’t the most tempting odds?
  10. I once heard a story concerning Reid that the players had been bussed up to Whalley for a preseason training session. At the end of the session as the players were getting back on the bus Reid insisted on running back to Ewood! He had tremendous stamina and was the box to box player we need.
  11. I’m sure the “Lenny Rose” commentator was a young Alan Green? With all this talk of goalkeepers I never realised until these clips what a liability Darren Collier was!
  12. Those pictures are truly shocking. The current Board surely have a duty of care to maintain Ewood Park for the future for new generations of supporters. Do Mr Waggott and co not see the mess as they enter their offices?
  13. One of my favourite players at Rovers. He always reminds me a little bit of Salgado. Both tremendous players from famous club backgrounds who both gave their all for the club. No big time Charlies. I remember feeling gutted when Tugay was banned for the League Cup Final as it would been his showpiece game. Does anyone know where he is now and what he’s doing?
  14. A very sad day hearing this news. He was a great player for us and one of our own. Metcalfe and Parkes were a formidable partnership.
  15. Good heavens give the lad a break! He had no chance with that Carter header. He was totally wrong footed. I’ll criticise him if he makes a clear and obvious error but he was unlucky there.
  16. To be fair I hope the club are thinking about the integrity of the league. There are still some relegation issues to be resolved on Wednesday so I hope Tony Mowbray considers that in his selection. I still haven’t forgiven Wagner at Huddersfield for allowing Birmingham to steal the points which ultimately saw us relegated.
  17. Great interview and so interesting! You speak very well Tony and I suggest you carve out a career as an after dinner speaker but maybe not in the Rotherham area! Also great to hear you still retain your love of Rovers.
  18. Downing gets my vote. A real pro whose attitude and commitment have been first class. A team player who has rarely had a bad game and must have had a positive influence on the younger players.
  19. Well done Rovers. A good team performance merited the 3 points. That second half display was awesome. Great goals and a real determination to win. What a bonkers league this is!
  20. I see where you’re coming from! Not sure why I used the word “dream!” I was referring to the fact that they are our best current partnership out of the options we have.
  21. I’m as gutted as anyone about our last two defeats but I have to say has any recent Rovers manager had a run of such bad luck with injuries as Tony Mowbray? We had the dream midfield duo of Travis and Evans who played so well against Bristol now out probably for the rest of this campaign. We have a 5th choice left back in Bennett who gets some pelters on here but is ready to perform when asked. We have possibly our 4th choice centre back against Barnsley. Bradley Dack has been a huge miss for us since the first Wigan game and Armstrong who was on fire before lockdown is struggling after his isolation. I know Mowbray deserves some criticism over the strikers department with a serious lack of form and confidence from Gallagher, Samuel and the misfiring Brereton. It is very frustrating and I’ve resigned myself to more Championship football next season.
  22. That’s ridiculous BBC. Fortunately I continued to watch SSN and saw Paul Merson be very positive in his analysis of the game; saying we “had goals in us” and definitely “dark horses” for the playoffs.
  23. Thanks for that but I’m unable to buy a ticket yet for tomorrow having followed your advice. I have bought tickets on ifollow a few times but I seem to recall it was on the day of the match. So I’m hopeful that I can get a match pass tomorrow.
  24. Klopp was complaining about Rovers robust tackling according to the Times report.
