  1. All that glitters...... For all that expenditure, who is in the Premier League and indeed who is in Division 1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.football.london/championship/aston-villa-top-championship-spending-14601544.amp chucking money at it can destabilize the squad unless it needs blowing up. In Tony we trust.
  2. Maybe they thought we were back in the Premier League again?
  3. This is where managers realize they need to get rid of players and get others in. The merry go round begins in earnest. It’s as important to dodge the donkeys as it is to sign the stallions.
  4. Lest we forget. The power of signing a good crosser for the start of the season. Graham is no Santa Cruz but he can put them in when they land on his head. By the way, Ince was no Mowbray. https://www.premierleague.com/video/single/705576
  5. Every year we have high hopes and low expectations. Every year the price for average players goes up. Klopp realized what it needed to buy a world class goalie. We are competing against parachute payments and clubs who have money after selling their best players. We have been there. I think we need to recognize the dynamics and trust the process. Mowbray got us up and importantly has tied down our best players, so we have a settled squad raring to go. Hopefully we will get up a couple of players to strengthen a good squad. Not all the best teams in the Championship spend the most money. Mid table obscurity would be a great first season back with a chance to build and kick on.

  7. Thanks for the link. Makes interesting reading. Nothing alarming in that thread. Quite the opposite.
  8. Some quality thinking on this thread. Venkys should be welcoming Tony Mowbray with open arms if not wallets in Pune. For once the stars have aligned for us and we have a no nonsense manager who needed us as much as we needed him. His identity fits ours very well and hopefully now with a proper business framework around him at Ewood, we are a far cry from the dodgy dealings of recent years. Mowbray chooses players that fit his mould and ours. Some you win and some you lose but he won more than he lost this season especially with last minute signings. Mid table obscurity would be a solid start next season although the promotion bounce worked well for Sheffield United and Millwall. Keeping it simple, staying open with fans and players and maintaining a no bull$&@ zone around the club would be the perfect mantra for 2018-2019. I hope the Venkys mantra is “in Mowbray we trust.” The losses in football terms are worrying but they are a tax write off for Venkys against profitable divisions. I am sure from a reputation standpoint they are more concerned about trying to rebuild their brand equity. Mowbray and the team have started the process. Long may it continue.
  9. Grant Hanley. Instant Norwich legend?
  10. Rejoice. 5 wins on the trot. Winning away after going one down. Belief and character and the dreaded Manager of the month award not a voodoo. Luvly.
  11. On the subject of podcasts, these guys do quite a nice job covering our new division. This edition is their review of League 1
  12. I have a haunch we will do well in this.
  13. I've got high hopes. https://mobile.twitter.com/CardiffCityFC/status/874633113456062464/video/1
  14. Great signing. Always good when the previous club's fans are sad rather than glad to see him go.
  15. Good comments. Gary is not an import, he is Rovers through and through. Look at the big names Holloway,McCarthy who haven't delivered on their promise. The biggest mistake Venkys have made is their criminally neglible choice of advisors which has been single handedly their biggest error. It has cost them financially,it has provided no continuity for the players and everyone from the boardroom to the bootroom have been playing mindgames and musical chairs. They will continue to fail if they continue to run Rovers as a division of Poultry plucking and if they continue to choose untrustworthy, money grabbing bedfellows. Thank the Lord we have a manager who has managed to get the best out of the players and navigate the off screen drama that is Bollewood. Well done Gary. Lets do Palace and get this season over. Still it could be worse,we could be QPR or Wolves.
  16. Who is this shenanigans guy Benni is playing with at West Ham, who cost him his place in the South African team ? http://www.thespoiler.co.uk/index.php/2010/06/10/benni-mccarthy-was-dropped-from-south-africas-world-cup-squad-for-entertaining-women
  17. I'm sure the work permit was a face saving gentlemans deal to avoid him playing tomorrow http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/robbie-savage/Robbie-Savage-column-Laid-back-Benni-McCarthy-called-me-the-worst-player-ever-but-he-could-be-window-s-best-signing-plus-no-surprise-to-see-Karren-Brady-wanting-to-rename-West-Ham-article304297.html Love the prozone story
  18. Fingers crossed the medical doesn't include a body mass index calculation
  19. Agreed. Hopefully Sam has plan A B and C lined up which will probably bring Beattie back. He has as much incentive to kick start his career as Benni. Home town boy like Dunn coming home. It's as good as it gets unless Eidur is going to come in on loads of wonga which I doubt. I really hope Benni the Belly doesn't play against us on Saturday. I am not sure I could stand itif he scores.
  20. The deal is done mentally, ship him out on our terms,do the same with Pedersen and Roberts, like it or not Beattie is waiting in the wings having turned down a few offers. He may not wait too long with Fulham in the hunt. Sam has others to cover or half of Europe's loaners on standby. out with the old in with the new and then let's see how Sams team stands up.
  21. Perhaps Benni needs to go in order to get the critical acclaim from the fans that he richly deserves. A similar situation to his fellow countryman down on the south coast. chrisF #1 04 Dec 2009 23:34 Buckie Thistle in for Mokoena ... 22. Sam does have a way with words. "At his age I'd understand if he wants to play first-team football and at the moment he can't get it here. " http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/b/blackburn_rovers/8340599.stm Hardly Mr Motivator. Any aspirations we had of being a quality football team is going down the tubes. Sparky had us playing good football in the end but nobody with any aspiration of passing the ball along the ground is going to want to come to us in January.
  23. Extremely disappointed. Benni knows the Premiership, is a proven goalscorer is a flair player and God knows we need them. Sometimes you need to have "goal hangers" to get the job done. He goes and Di Santo goes and we are left with a meat and two veg line up that is predictable as it is one dimensional.
