  1. Look at the striker we have up front today and the bench. I challenge anyone to convince me this has been a good window.
  2. LT running with it now...not done yet. States 'preferred attacking option' which indicates he is the only attacking player arriving. Still need another striker/winger IMO
  3. If Dack and Palmer are fit, I fancy us to win this. 6 year old daughter coming in the BBE with me today for her first game. Just practising a rendition of "Burnley fans eat bananas with their feet." Anyway. Hopefully she sees us win and gets to sing 'Danny Graham, he scores when he wants". COYB
  4. My thoughts exactly. Spend the money, announce some quality permanent signings and then slip this guy in as a no risk option on deadline day. Looks then like a decent punt - but if it fails, we've brought in x,y and z. As it stands, it looks like a panic signing as we are incapable of getting anyone through the door.
  5. Could have been watching WBA, we play them soon.
  6. That bench was a clear indication that we lack squad depth. The manager has said as much. Therefore, if the money is there and we don't improve that depth, it is a poor window.
  7. We are lighter than 1 striker though - we need width, and CB cover - it's a good first 14-15 when all fit - we need a good 18.
  8. Not far wrong with this. If we knew we had a budget of around £8 million, you would have expected us to bring in 6 or 7 players for fees, that would improve the team/squad depth. We are well short of that. It is frustrating because this is an open league this year. With the right additions, we could have an outside shot at play-offs. This Rodwell signing is just bizarre, I will be amazed if he plays. Rich Sharpe saying he is being given an opportunity to train with the first team squad and see how it goes. Doesn't look like he will start any time soon. We still need 4 players in.
  9. I sincerely hope that we have a plan d (that isn't a crap striker from QPR)
  10. Make sure you pay £6k cash.
  11. Telegraph saying 'upto 3 players' wanted. One of those is clearly the midfield loan. That's 2 'possibles' which we may pay a fee for -and in the area of the pitch we are weakest. If one is a bloody goaly, then I give up.
  12. Oppo fans always welcome (unless you are of the 6 fingered variety). Many thanks for the informative post. So to summarise: He has a poor touch, can't finish clinically, no pace and can't play with his back to goal. Despite that he's a good 'un? In all seriousness I would be amazed if we spent anything like that amount - on anybody. He seems a decent prospect but we need a replacement for Danny Graham, who is great with his back to goal. Ah well - we'll see how it pans out! Good luck for the rest of the season.
  13. The loan window edges closer to closing. Another failure to bring in players mentioned, except the one 'dubious' free transfer. This has got all the hall marks of a classic Venkys transfer window. Lots of people were convinced that we would have no problem getting these loan to permanent transfers done. Are people still as confident? Tick tock.
  14. I know that Rodwell is ear marked as a cb, but surely he would be cm cover as well. We seemingly have loads who can fill the 2 mid roles, making this Reed signing (without a view) pointless - as I can't imagine he's a massive upgrade on Travis. Attacking players please Tony.
  15. He was clearly a talented lad when young, however his lack of games at City and poor form and injuries at Sunderland don't bode well - he's not achieved. Like a better paid Adam Henley.
  16. If we had signed 2 or 3 for good money and this was our final signing. I would think it's risky but worth a punt. The fact we have signed nobody of any worth since this 'budget' came to light and now this, makes me nervous.
  17. ...Or keep the young centre back we have loaned out...
  18. Ha ha we've had a few albatrosses here over the last few years. You've had a lean few years as well. As others have alluded to, the drop into league one could be a god send for you. Brilliant chance to get rid of your high earning deadwood and sign a few grafters that actually give a shit and aren't on silly money For us, last season was great. We got to watch the team win plenty (nice change) visit new grounds but most of all, we ended up with a team that fought for the shirt and cared. Something that had been missing for a good few years. Rodwell is an odd one as we have a very tight nit/positive dressing room. If he doesn't graft here, I doubt he will be here long. Anyway, I am sure your lads will bounce back this season and that winning mentality will return to the club and support. Good luck for the season. Incidentally, we have a top quality right back available if you guys are missing your albatrosses. You can have him for a pint and a pack of bacon fries.
  19. It's all about his head. The lad has been injury prone and is a multi -millionaire. A 38 year old Maldini would run around the pitch for free, not back out of tackles etc (despite having made a fortune) - because of his love of the game. This lad has not played much football in recent years. If he puts a couple of Smallwood type challenges in where it hurts and gives a shift for the shirt, then fair play. Or will he shirk the challenges, because he doesn't want the hassle of injuries etc and doesn't need the money. I'd say there's about a 70%chance that it's the latter. Low risk signing financially (apparently). Though we will only know that if we sign some good players as promised. If we dont, it's another nail in a so far poor window.
  20. Meh Lad starts with a clean slate in blue and white. Hope he does well. Does have the feeling of a Wes Brown type signing to it. Ok if we still bring in 4 more.
  21. So a free transfer and a loan with no option....that may or may not sign today as suggested yesterday. No sign of attackers despite a crisis at that end of the pitch. No sign of this budget being spent. These two seem like panic acquisitions to me. I don't think we will get anyone of quality in with a clause to buy.
  22. Think he will go at the end of the season tbh.
  23. Smallwood is effective at breaking up play - like Mokoena. He won't offer anything else though. I appreciate the guy and think he is well worth a place in the squad this year. Certainly a good option to come off the bench if we want to see out a game or are running out of steam.
  24. Bennett has excelled in the middle. Definitely his best position. We are crying out for players that can go past a full back and put a decent cross in.....or heaven forbid, have a shot on target.
