  1. Leonard/Tyjon/Michalski/Montgomery wouldn't need to be registered as part of the squad as they are 21 or under. They would also have been available to supplement the 25 man squad we had last year. Lets put it this way. We are well down in over 21 players at the moment.
  2. Another 3 would make it a 24 man squad wouldn't it? Unless I'm forgetting someone? Last year squad of 25 minus the 5 loanees, Weiman, Baath, Dolan and JRC.= 9 out. Wharton would come back into the squad after a year out, plus the 4 new signings. = 5 in. 3 new players would take it to 24.
  3. Exactly. Squad is 4 over 21 players light compared to the one that ended the season. 4 is the number we need.
  4. Er no. As others have pointed out, he has a good engine and can get up and down but we haven't seen him do anything to worry the opposite full back or any crunching defensive tackles. With him and Hedges on the other side we may negate other team's threat out wide but there will be minimal goals/assists coming from either.
  5. Yeah possibly but he's stealing a living in the opposition half. Cantwell not been much better either.
  6. Wharton been caught on the ball twice now. I thought our game was all about the press - it's non existent and Yuki can't hold the ball. Elche well on top. Much better test this. Will highlight the weaknesses.
  7. Can anyone confirm the kick off time - Spanish time? Rovers website useless - Fixtures page says 8pm but the buy a match pass page says 7pm (or 6 uk)🤦🏻‍♂️
  8. Back up to Hedges is the most damningly depressing statement anyone could give on Rovers transfer policy.
  9. Yes that went very quiet, very quickly. Buried by the signing of the Hull lad. It will be trotted out again in a few weeks when we fail to sign another cb. Really worried about the top end of the pitch. Lost Dolan/Weimann from an already weak area and no striker/winger seems to be on the agenda. Just midfield crocks.
  10. Logged on, saw a few pages and thought 'oooh a new link/signing.' But nope, just news on another ex player. Fair play to Dolan though.
  11. Squad looking very thin. GK:Toth seems to be doing ok...Has looked better coming for crosses pre season. I'd be tempted to off load Pears if anyone is daft enough to take him. Bring in an old experienced head for the bench. RB: If Britain stays (or is replaced), rb is covered. CB: Problem area. Carter injury prone and out for a while, Wharton is bound to get injured at some stage after the the time out he's had. Only 2 experienced centre backs. Definitely need one more. Needs money spending in the position and you'd want somebody with a higher ceiling than Mcloughlin. No sign of the Hyam extension yet either. LB: Well covered. CM: We know Sonny and Trav are both reliable (if they stay). We know Forshaw can do a job but he's injury prone, is only good for 20 min cameos and has missed most of pre season with an injury - stupid signing. Tavares injured so will clearly be well off the pace early doors - if he's even any good. Montgomery is young and unproven (a bit like a younger Garrett). Doesn't look like he'll set the world alight but will likely flit between looking half decent and the game passing him by. Garrett- out for a while and not going to cut it. Buckley- ship has sailed. A reasonably experienced option but needs to move on and drop a league for his own career. We definitely need one more, first-team ready CM and a second if either Trav/Tron goes. RW: Hedges (nuff said). Montgomery? No thanks to either. Definitely need a first team right winger. LW: Kargbo promising but raw. Deneve is at least fit and has a good engine. Are there no promising wide players in the academy as third option? The 'Ten': Big season for Cantwell this year. Seems fully fit. He'll either have his best season in years or be a busted flush. I quietly hope it will be the former. Ohashi could maybe cover there but doesn't seem technical enough. Tyjon looks a promising understudy - but needs to sign a contract! CF: Gueye can be a handful. Holds the ball up well and causes problems but can't finish. Best off the bench from what we saw last season. Ohashi struggles to hold the ball but will press all day and a good finisher. Leonard just too injury prone - needs a loan if and when fit. Can't think of anyone else - we seem very short in this position should Ohashi/Gueye pick up a serious knock. Need one more - preferably better than the 2 we have but that costs decent money. May have missed somebody but I make that: 1 cb 1 midfielder 1 RW 1 CF That's a minimum without anyone leaving. There's also an argument for a Dolan type replacement that can (at a push) play across the front line. Really, each if those players needs to be able to go straight into the first team which requires ££ not pence signings. Crack on Rudy. Still waiting for the exciting summer to start. Apologies for the long post but I'm sat out in the sun with nowt else to do 😂.
  12. Dear Venkys In the last 30 years we've had some top quality strikers: Shearer, Sutton, Cole, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Matt Jansen.. ...and they all graced this club in the 15 yrs before you rocked up. The best you've given us is Rhodes, Armstrong, Brereton and Szmodic. Thanks.
  13. It is very quiet. I wonder whether the club expected to have both Travis and Brittain off the books by now and are short of cash for incomings.
  14. Exactly. Give the minutes to a lad who will/has signed.
  15. That's the problem. If we give him the game time first, he night not sign. Club need to dictate the terms. He's a decent prospect, not the next Messi. No need to bend over backwards.
  16. Yes I read that but he still hasn't signed a pro deal. Just saying he should be given an ultimatum to sign or we basically develop him for someone else.
