  1. Here's a season review from BBC MOTD & Sportsnight...
  2. The Raos income comes from their business. BRFC & VLL (Rovers immediate parent) are part of the Venky’s group.

  7. Local TV reacts to the Rovers' League Title win and the cliche-meter struggles to cope...if anyone on here is one of the supporters interviewed feel free to own up ?
  8. Kenny Dalglish is interviewed by Gerald Sinstadt following the title win
  9. That’s a Python sketch right there...“Argument Room” ”I came in here for an argument...you’re just contradicting me...” ”Contradiction is argument...” ”No it isn’t.....it’s just the automatic gain saying of the previous postulation...” etc & so on....
  10. Love me a deep, scarlet red...so essentially I am correct...?
  11. Birdy still on his hols I presume ? ?
  12. But taken literally, that would mean nobody leaving Man Utd as a youngster can ever improve elsewhere...? Keith Gillespie, Robbie Savage, Josh King, Danny Simpson, Michael Keane are some that have been released/sold by Man U & played for Rovers at some point & went on to have decent careers post-Utd so it’s not a foregone conclusion that leaving Utd marks the end of a player’s development.
  13. Umbro have launched Huddersfield’s kits...the blue is lovely & the away kit red is also a neat shade but not a big fan of the collars TBH
  14. ‘Cos I’m an Admin apparently Keeps us humble...or something?
  15. Has undoubted ability but far too often makes poor decisions resulting in no real end product i.e. takes on one man too many, poor pass selection & so on. But when he does turn it on, he is really eye-catching....so why the lack of consistency ? Without seeing him every day in training &/or knowing the guy, it’s hard to know what motivates him...carrot or stick. TM seems to have chewed him out publicly on a few occasions so he seems to think stick...but Rothwell hasn’t noticeably improved so time for a new approach ? if our coaching staff was all that, Rothwell is exactly the sort of player that you should see improve season on season & I don’t think he has...
  16. Players are paid wages whether loan or permy....no difference there. The difference is Use v Ownership....you want to own an asset if you think it will appreciate. Sometimes you can’t afford to buy assets that will appreciate, but you can loan them. It may be that some loans enhance your team/prospects e.g. Reed, Adarabioyo & without them, you might be susceptible to a lower placed finish. its not the case that loan = bad, buy = good...it’s more nuanced than that.
  17. On a point of accountancy principle....I know, sorry.......? Loan players cost you wages & loan fees... If you buy players they cost you wages & depreciation... Use v Ownership is the conundrum....the policy should be to bring in the best players that you can afford holistically, whether as purchases or loans, to achieve the objective of winning promotion. “...but we lose loan players at the end of every season...” yes, that is true & potentially disruptive, but equally, if Rovers sign someone decent & we get an offer in that’s deemed acceptable 12 months later, we can easily lose an owned player as well and not always at a massive profit if there is a release clause e.g. Craig Bellamy. In summary, it’s not always “good to buy” & “bad to loan”. It depends...if you sign players that don’t perform, their value falls. If they are loan players then it’s not your risk or detriment. The moral here is....sign good players... “This statement of the blindingly obvious is brought to you by BRFCS...” ?
  18. ...now let’s do Alexis Sanchez...?
  19. I agree wholeheartedly with that...
  20. But...the BILLIONAIRE owners asked players to take a 12.5% pay cut to help to protect the future of the club & those employed by the club. Özil apparently refused to accept this because he wasn’t convinced as to the owners’ motives. Subsequently, once the majority of the players accept the cut; the BILLIONAIRE owners made 55 people redundant anyhow, despite the salary sacrifices of the players. In the meantime, Özil uses a large chunk of his salary to make his own charitable donations so as to ensure the money goes where he wants it to....as he doesn’t trust the owners. I guess I’m saying, I’m not so sure that Özil is entirely the bad guy here....
  21. Why is Mesut Özil being singled out for opprobrium in this thread ?
  22. & the billionaire US owners who asked the millionaire players to take a pay cut to protect jobs ? ?
  23. An explainer in a local paper... https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/explained-how-new-squad-salary-caps-league-one-will-affect-clubs-including-doncaster-rovers-2936369
  24. Footballers use of tenses in reported speech...in a way that nobody in real life ever would.... ”Well, he’s got the ball on the byline and he’s cut inside and whipped in one to the near post and we’re in front but the penalty changes everything and the ref...he’s seen it as a push and I don’t know where he gets that from but at the end of the day thems the breaks you have to deal with....Clive...”
  25. Clubs are their own worst enemies....at the first sniff of promotion, expect some creative loopholes to be used either to keep the best talent or to sign new players. And let’s be frank...if we did it to keep Dack & thereby get into the play offs, we are not going to clutch our pearls and express shock & horror are we ? The riches of the PL are too great, too tempting, too seductive to sustain compliant behaviour. This smacks of “something must be done....this is something....let’s do it...” IMHO.
