  1. Reminds me of being at OT watching Lancashire and being childishly amused by an incoming Somerset batsmen called Richard (no doubt Dick to his team mates)Harden.
  2. Always thought the ex-Bristol City manager Alan Dicks had an unfortunate name, especially when the fans were calling for his head. The same can be said for Arthur Cox.
  3. No A thoroughly deserved 3 points today. A very good second half performance, especially after the timely substitutions by Hughes. Was gutted when Bellamy went off but Kuqi and Dickov played very well together. The most encouraging thing for me right now is that we have got more competition for places throughout the team.
  4. Same here. And the slim chance of actually seeing one of our strikers score. If we play 4-5-1 on Wednesday I might be home by half time.
  5. Hughes said on Radio Rovers that he is not worried by our lack of goals - well you effin well should be!!
  6. His wife aint too shabby though. Saw them both in Trafford Centre.
  7. I think proper tactics and coaching has alot to do with it.
  8. I think the point was that we wouldn't have done last September.
  9. I think people really have to keep things in perspective and be patient. Just look back 12 months and think about the state we were in then. We were way better than Bolton today, a team that qualified for Europe last season, we were away from home and never looked like losing the game. Even though we still lack a cutting edge there are signs that we could find it with the addition of Bellamy and Bentley. I think some people expect us to turn into Brazil overnight. Keep the faith!!
  10. Yes it was a bad result and a big let down after all the optimism that has been building. But talk of being doomed and of being ashamed to be a Rovers fan is just going way over the top. People need to keep things in perspective and realise that the rebuilding job is an on-going process. We are not going to turn into top six material overnight. Hopefully the one good thing to come out of today's game will be the the realisation that we need to further strengthen before the window closes.
  11. Yet another misguided piece from someone who seems to think that we should all roll over and die. Obviously doesn't realise what a fantastic job that Mark Hughes did last season in keeping us up, otherwise he might just have realised that a bit of credit is due. The majority of reporters/pundits/columnists etc. in this country have tunnel vision and don't understand that we can't all be Chelsea, Aresenal and Man U. More and more clubs will play less and less attractive football because it is becoming the way to survive. It is the people running the game that deserve criticism. And to basically liken Mark Hughes to Diouf is the biggest example of ignorance I have ever come across. An insult to one of the best forwards ever seen in English football.
  12. Plus the fact that the team was generally poor defensively, unbalanced, and very exposed on the left hand side. His performances when he joined on loan were very good, and the majority of us who actually watch from beyond our living room chairs were delighted when he was signed up permanently. But if rover6 thinks he isn't good enough then perhaps we shouldn't bother giving him another chance and just sell him. Perhaps he could follow Ceiran Donnelly to Blackpool.
  13. How can you say that when he hasn't played beyond reserve team level? Granted he did OK against Morecambe but has a very long way to go yet. I think people are carried away just because he is left-footed.
  14. The thing that stood out to me most yesterday was that we looked fitter in our first friendly of the summer than we did in our final one against Sporitng last pre-season.
  15. The main person to blame for poor attendances is Souness and the shower of poo he left us with. I fail to see how Williams can be held responsible for poor attendances. In fact the initiatives that he and the club have tried in an attempt to attract people are to be applauded.
  16. You are joking aren't you? Williams is probably the best signing we made in the Jack Walker era, apart from Alan Shearer.
  17. I have done 35 years. I have learned to take the rough with the smooth or it will drive you round the bend.
  18. That has to rank as the most over the top statement on this subject by a mile.
