Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
martonrover replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Whilst many people couldn’t name him, I think a lot of people are aware that Venkys have a rep over here. I think it’s Suhail’s power that is underestimated, hence Waggott acting as lightning conductor. Even on here he rarely gets a mention. -

I’m not sure that so many fans won’t have heard of Suhail, but the fact he isn’t a club employee and has no official presence helps keep him below the radar. He truly is the invisible man. -

Agreed. Waggott is merely a hired goon who acts as a lightning conductor. Suhail is as near to Venkys as we get in this country, He has a cloak of invisibility. -

Has he definitely relocated his family to the area? If so, that’s the only thing likely to keep him here a bit longer. -

The facts are we've lost two of the last three in the league and haven't brought in any experienced players at this level, which we badly needed. Today we lost by three goals to a team likely to struggle. We have a Head Coach who isn't happy. It doesn't augur well. -

Watching the highlights, I particularly enjoyed the eighth goal going in just after they started chanting, "Yaarkshire" 🙂 -

Good to hear. Perhaps the kick up the arse has done the trick. -

Loving his references to the team coach in today’s LT interview. Clearly thinks Waggott’s a dick. -

Some clubs retire a shirt number. We’ve retired a position on the pitch. -

Or, more likely, because he hasn't yet been offered a better alternative elsewhere at a more ambitious club. If Leeds, Leicester or Feyenoord had come calling we wouldn't have seen him for dust. -

Exactly what crossed my mind when we still went for the win on Saturday. -

I wonder if JDT has now relocated his family to England? If so, that might be part of the reason he’s still at the club, (thank goodness). -
23/24 kit; is a new sponsor needed?
martonrover replied to alex l's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well, of course, they would do. I'm so glad they've been called out for it. Waggott clearly has no moral compass. It's so obviously inappropriate for any sports club to be seen endorsing a nicotine based product. -
Allott was replaced by Chilton as Director of Cricket, but is still involved at the club. I think he is involved in the Farington project.

I think he is contracted for red ball cricket, but basically both he and Livingstone can’t be bothered with it. Last night’s outcome was no surprise to me. The bowling department is lacking, and whilst you can get away with that in the group stages against weaker counties, it will find you out at the business end of the tournament. Injuries to Gleeson and Mahmood have been a major factor, but Lancs knew the score coming into the season and should’ve recruited accordingly, eg a pace bowler as one of the overseas berths. De - Grondhomme was an awful signing and it says it all that he has been dropped. Add to that the Parkinson situation and Hartley’s poor form this season, so spin options also not good. Livingstone is not a captain. How many times did Surrey batters play the ramp shot and he failed to react with field settings. Our batters hardly ever played it, but when they did, Surrey had set the field accordingly. Surrey’s strong bowling unit was the difference. Curran and Jordan are top exponents in T20. Of Lancashire’s attack last night, only Wood might get in Surrey’s T20 team. How on Earth Jones gets in the T20 side I have no idea. It’s simply not his game. Sending him out in that situation last night was ridiculous. A hitter such as Hartley or Bailey would’ve been more appropriate. As @Mattyblue alluded to, Lancs are lacking in ambition on the pitch. County cricket is becoming more like football in terms of player movement, with ambitious counties already signing players for next season. Our Director of Cricket, Mark Chilton, (a cheap and cheerful appointment), appears to be asleep at the wheel.

Excellent attendance at Old Trafford and good to sneak a home quarter final by 0.078 on net run rate.
-
They have lost the last three, discounting the Ireland Test (well remembered Chaddy), including the second Test in New Zealand. Need to make a decent fist of the remainder of this series.
-
Yes, nicely set up after last night’s results. A great pity about the washout, but didn’t harm our chances of qualification or a top two finish. Should be a decent attendance tomorrow.
-
It’s an utterly terrible watch. Admittedly, the pitch isn’t helping. I’m a bit of a purist, but this is making me look forward to watching some T20 tomorrow.
