Several players have looked out of their depth here, only to reinvent themselves elsewhere. I don't think we've seen anything from Brereton to justify the money paid for him but it's the manager who needs to carry the can for this one. Firstly for convincing the board to pay that fee, and secondly for failing to get the best outta him.
-
We might get more change out of him paired with Graham, but that's not our system. We have one striker up top, Dack playing off him, then whoever the Tonbola picks on the wing.
-
There is never a wrong time to get promoted. We need a cash injection to balance the books, and being a PL club would make us a more attractive proposition for any potential takeover. There are a dozen or so teams vying to get to the promised land, we don't have the luxury of picking and choosing when that time comes.
-
Speak for yourself. The TV money and parachute payments would be worth being whipping boys for a season.
-
Unless we appointed Hughton, then it would be "give him a chance FFS!!" ?

34 y/o Danny Graham is the best striker at the club, which is a damning indictment of Mowbray spunking over £10m on Brereton and Gallagher. Here's an idea: for the next game, how about we play Chapman and Rothwell on the wings instead of shoehorning f*ckk-knows-who out there.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if we did. Forest aren't exactly untouchable, and we do have some talented players. We're just inconsistent and the manager doesn't know his preferred system.
-
He'll keep us in this division, barring a complete disaster. Will we ever go up with him in charge? Nah.
-
Just a bogstandard Championship team. Too inconsistent and always bottle it under expectation. Doesn't help that Mowbray can't spot a striker for toffee.

Tbh, £5m is peanuts for a young English striker from PL club but in the Venky-era it's a marquee signing.
-
It's funny how after a couple of wins people get giddy and handwave the fact we've spunked £5m+ on a dud.

If we had to judge the signing of Brereton at this juncture, it would be safe to say he has not been a success. It doesn't seem like we know what to do with him, his confidence looks shot and we've seen little potential of the £7m we're paying for him. That doesn't mean he can't turn it around. Obviously the price tag isn't his doing but it is what it is. That's the money we've chosen to invest in him, and we need to see some return on it.
-
Brereton has to go down as a flop. For that kinda money, Rovers needed someone who could hit the ground running. In the dozen or so appearances that he's made he's looked out of his depth. Luckily he has time on his side to turn it around but I wouldn't be surprised if he has to leave Rovers to revive his career (a la Kevin Davies, James Beattie etc).

Interesting look at the team now: Bunn (unattached) Simpson (unattached) Mokoena (retired) Khizanishvili (retired, Georgia U-21 asst manager) Olsson (unattached) Vogel (retired) Grella (retired) Andrews (retired) Treacy (retired) Judge (Ipswich Town) Villanueva (Al-Ittihad, Saudi) Roberts (retired) Derbyshire (Omonia Nicosia, Cyprus) Hodge (Arbroath) Brown (retired) Gunning (Billericay Town) Doran (Inverness Caledonian Thistle) Haworth (Guiseley)

Think he played second-fiddle to Le Saux but saw more gametime under Woy.
-
That's him done for the season, then.
-
He wouldn't have scored if no one had dissed him. True facts.

Rovers new style of play and how we play it

We're a striker and a right-back away from having a decent side. Could do with another CB too but beggars can't be choosers.
